My aunt had the newspaper framed from when Elvis Presley came down here. She was a big fan of his. I now have the framed paper since her passing this year.

Elvis opened for Faron Young in 1955 down here in Fort Myers and after the show a friend of mine took him to get a burger. This vidio reminded me of that as he went to the hot dog stand after the show you were talking about. I love this stuff 👍🏻😎

Cliff's Drive-In was the place back in the day - there was a really cool neon/light bulb lettered sign out front in the shape of a burger. Over the years the Five-Points area has mostly turned to shit and probably wont see anything of its former glory of post WWII working class residents. Coon High School was the iconic high school in Wilson, years later it became Wilson's eighth-grade middle school, closed for several years and went to decay. It was renovated to the apartments seen now with the auditorium preserved. Many at the time of Elvis' Wilson shows said he was quit the hit but then some thought he was just a fad. Thanks for doing the Wilson videos about Elvis and others playing during a monumental time! The vacant Shriners building where Elvis played is still on site downtown New Bern NC.

I think seeing Elvis here is a good choice. Just looking at the auditorium, it looks like it's a perfect size for the size show they were doing then and it looks like it would sound very good in there too, not to mention, there probably wasn't a bad view any where in there. Don't know if it would be my first pick but I would consider it for sure.

That’s The Way It Is concerts However I did see him in concert in 1976. Have the half ticket. Back then they tore them in half. Was to again in 1977. Still have my ticket. I couldn’t take it back because it would be like losing him all over again. I will never sell it.

Billy, You Simply Out-Do Yourself with each and every next video....I can't say "Thank You" Enough as You Bring us all, yet more pieces of the Elvis Puzzle that Nobody in EPE or Graceland offers. You truly do Your homework with regards to research and it pays off! What a Beautiful Auditorium that tells such a story not only in Elvis' Rise to Stardom, But a part of the Evolution of Rock n Roll and its History.....It also brings to attention, the Hard Work & Hustle that Elvis, Scotty, DJ & Bill put in to make appearances and their Travels to promote themselves....You Bring It Home Billy! Thank You a Million Fold! Loved the 2 part series from Start to Finish!

Very nice chronological of the dates happening here SG. Like you said,it is neat to think what was going through Elvis,Scotty,Bill,Dj ,minds at this time. Rollin up and down the road in Caddy,,or Lincoln,,from town to town. they would have played for $0 at this point. A whole new sound was coming on the scene for teenagers. The old HS is so great looking the old European masonry work is obvious in the arched entry ways and windows,1920's ,,and so neat and solid inside,,,up to the brass rails in balcony. Class all the way. Great stuff SG Thanks.

Cool about the hot dog shop! How cool would it have been to attend that concert and then stop off at the hog dog shop to grab and bite to eat and run into Elvis! lol I thought it was cool that he played at the high school to for Valentine's as well. I do love that they made the high school into apartments and didn't tear it down. Love that it still looks the same on the outside and even a lot on the inside. It is amazing how they kept things original. How cool would it be to live where Elvis played?! I could live there. Especially with that auditorium, it is beautiful. Just when I think that most of the Elvis stories have been told, you come up with more places and stories Billy. Loved this one!!

This is my home town. I used to have a piece of the stage that I tore up one time when a friend of mine and myself had entered (without permission) before it was renovated, and was condemned. I used to impersonate Elvis when I was younger. One of the keyboard players that used to play for me. His mother was a student there at the time Elvis came. Before the show she told the security guard that she had forgot her books and he let her in the school. She said she walked around the corner, and standing right there by himself in the hallway was Elvis. She said “I am not suppose to be back here”. And he invited her to come talk to him and he autographed and gave her a scarf. This was a scarf (unlike the 70’s) that had his picture on the scarf. I spoke with her and held the scarf one time. Very nice lady, she has passed away now. Also my dad got in line to get a ticket, they had two lines at the ticket booths. He got about 10 people from the booth and they said “Anyone who wants to see Elvis has to get in a single file line, at this point they consolidated the two lines into 1. My father got pushed all the way back to the water tower. When he got about 10 people from the door again, they shut the door and said it was sold out. My dad wondered around the back of the school, and he saw Elvis’s pink Cadillac. which he thought was the coolest thing ever. And promised himself one day that he would have one. Which he did, and restored it to a pink and white one just like Elvis’s but dad was a 57. Great video man. Thanks for sharing.

Just a thought Billy, I wonder if the room still exists in the Shrine Mosque, Springfield, MO, where a 10 year old John Wilkinson met Elvis during a Saturday sound check, and told him, "You can't play worth a damn." Such a legendary story that's true.
