Wow was that fun! When I was a kid they played Sound of Music there. I saw it 9 times in this theatre. Never knew Elvis had been there. How much fun is that to find out! Keep up the good work!

I was at this concert with my mom and dad and grandmother. I was 3 years old and i remember every detail. I was screaming in the aisle like the big girls were. My mom said Elvis pointed his guitar at me and said how cute I was. I love my little tiny part in Elvis History.

Very very simmilar building to the Olympia in Miami, a bit less artistic perhaps, but it quickly reminded me of it. It is even placed simmilarly, with the backstreet entrance exactly the same as the Olympia. I have photographed the Olympia everytime I have been to Miami as, for me, it is the most iconic theater he ever played during his '56 tour . I guess you will soon visit that one too. It would be fantastic if you could cover the Richmond theater in Richmond. Good job as usual guys, thank you.

Wow, I wish I knew you were coming. I live in the area and actually used to work in the Florida theatre building. There are offices upstairs as well as a "screening room" that was used for movies back in the day. Nowadays, the artists actually park their tour bus and equipment trucks right in front of the theater on Forsyth Street, off to the right when facing it, to unload gear onto the stage. The artists "sneak in" via the same route rather than the way Elvis did in the rear. Next time bring your Bass and we can jam a little.

Billy, you run into people all the time by incidental encounters that add info and pieces to the puzzle. Whoever painted that Elvis may have been told stories by their Grandmother about seeing Elvis there - You never know. By 1958 Elvis had been in and out of a lot of back doors :)
@parkington65504 жыл бұрын
Agree -- it may have seemed unrealistic to Billy, but the people who live there know their history.

The Florida Theater is awesome. I used to take my girlfriend to the balcony, which went up and up and back and back until at the very back the screen looked as small as a postage stamp. That's where we sat. Hubba hubba. Elvis was really late getting to the concert. The animals in the audience got restless. When he finally arrived, he sang 2 songs and left. A lot of people were pissed.

Wow !!!! Super history. Yous stepped on the very place Elvis walked ! Only time is between that day to the day yous were there. My guess someone knows Elvis played there ...pasted down stories from grampa or ? and honestly the drawing is so well done. Ya creepy back lane too. Even pic of devil . Not crazy but have had an encounter with an invisible demon in 1977 in my bedroom at 3:30 am so ....I am so clued in Ephesians 6:10-20....( oh my as I'm typing this my mom is watching a catholic mass and the priest just said we wrestle against demonic powers ...what are the odds of that ? ) Elvis was one busy guy in the 1950s 60s 70s ...as Joe E said he may of died at 42 but Elvis packed in many life times it would take many lives to do under normal circumstances. Food for thought : Elvis we have 1500 concerts for you to do ....and then ya can retire ya can start in 1956 and end in yr 2000. Elvis replies " no let's get them done by 1977 as I had to give people free houses cars jewellery and TCB necklaces and donations to causes..... And I want to buy a big mansion and jet planes cars motorbikes .....
