I was a Deputy Sheriff on duty in my cruiser the day that Elvis died. My dispatcher came over the radio and told us that Elvis had died. It was such a shock. I had to pull over on the side of the road. I respected Elvis not only for his talent but because of his not fighting the draft when he was called up and his willingness to serve his country. He also respected his parents, and the money did not go to his head, and he was willing to give most of it away. There will never be another Elvis.

I've always wondered about the infamous photo of Elvis his casket's authenticity and have always wanted to ask someone who was there if that's how Elvis really looked at the time of his funeral. When you realize that Elvis was the soundtrack of almost every Man, Woman and child of the 50s, 60s and 70s seeing the reaction of these people really puts things into focus. There were no cellphones, no computers, no social media and no form of entertainment topped being around others while rocking out to music. These are the men and women who make the backbone of the western world. We may find it strange as younger individuals to see them react in such a way but give respect where respect is due. The formative power of music is undeniable.
