Just 8 days earlier,I had the thrill of meeting Elvis when he came to El Paso,dad knew the guy who would drive for El and so we knew when and. where to be.I was so thrilled I’m surprised I rememebered to bring my autograph book,however when I finally came face to face with Elvis, I froze and couldn’t remember my own name when Elvis asked what it was,dad had to tell me to tell him what it was and after I told him,Elvis gave me his autograph,the meeting was just wonderful

Now I'm not only writing about the ladies who were fans of him, but about everyone who was able to appreciate Elvis' talent, charm, selflessness and, last but not least, his work ethic, which certainly required serious physical and mental endurance during the long concerts. When Elvis started out, artists writing their own songs was a very rare thing to find. Even bands with their own original content, most of the time the lead singers didn’t write those either. Even Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues” was a rip-off of a much earlier song entitled “Crescent City Blues”

Elvis at his best! Wish there was more Elvis concerts available on dvd. TTWII, Comeback Special and On Tour are all great. His last televised concert on CBS is great but sad at the same time. He had so many concerts and so few were taped for tv or cinema.

I love Burning Love...15:50. So glad Elvis added this to his repertoire. I watched the evolution of this song from his first rehearsals..where he didn't really like it and kind of struggled with the strange flow of the song..melody/inotations needed. you can tell it just felt weird to him. In those rehearsals you can also see them trying to work out a good way to end the song. He grew to really like it and have fun with it including it in many of his later shows and concerts. You can see the first time they perform the song (Burning Love - 1972 -First Live Version) (was performed 4-14-72) and Elvis has to direct the end because the band was still unsure about the ending. It's cool to watch. I love seeing him do it here 7 months later. I don't think they actually ended it the way Elvis wanted but it seems like he was over it by then! By the way-when Elvis seems "off" at the end of a song it is rarely if ever the case, it is far more likely the band was off. Conductors who worked with Elvis said he had "super human" timing. Not only that but he knew what every note of every instrument should be. Members of the band have said if one note was off anywhere Elvis would hear it. They said it bothered him and he'd turn and give a look to the offender. Regarding his incredible timing, one conductor who worked with him said he was "like a metronome." Peace~

A lot of people think that the only time Elvis ever played Hawaii was for the Aloha Special but he has these concerts in '72 and I think he might have performed in Hawaii for a TV special commemorating Pearl Harbor after he got out of the Army. 1:47 JD Sumner and the Stamps just hanging out before the show.
