1956 was a magical year for Elvis Presley. It started in January with his first appearances on the Dorsey brothers’ show. From then on it was a one way trip to superstardom, appearing on Ed Sullivan, performing 173 live concerts, and first time on the silver screen. It was also the year that he stopped at my uncle’s service station in Ohio and sang a few songs for the guys that worked there. I love that my family has some history relating to this period in Elvis’ career.

Beautiful outside? yes. Great voice? Amazing one! But inside?? We have to see people beyond the outside or monsters get created. I fell sorry for him. All that hysteria... his Ego looks swollen to the point of losing touch with the real world. It is so meaningless all the idolization. He must have felt he was only that Elvis and had no idea who his non-on-stage persona was. Well... he had a terrible life. Celebrity status and all that comes with it killed all the potential of the human he could have been. We only had the stage persona and irrefutabely an amazing voice. Could have reach so much more!
