More than likely Elvis and the boys got a Sandwich, and chips, and a cold Pepsi, most of these little towns had what they called Mom and Pop places, they would make you a Sandwich of your chose, and you could take it on the road, i did that many times in my travels, it was way cheaper than going to a restaurant, and back then the money wasn't that good, it's so nice of you sir to show these memories to us, man no one would have ever seen this place if it had not been for you, thank you very much for your dedication to showing these Elvis memories, no movie, no teen mag. every talked about great things like this memory..keep up the good work, always Aron...✌❤👍❤⚡

I can't get enough of those old places where Elvis lingered for a moment in time. You bring it all back to life by telling the stories. And I especially loved your daddy being in the video♥️Cool beyond words!

Who knows how many years that postman spend living and working there, if that old building could talk the tails I'm sure those old walls could tell, and to think in 1955 'greatness' passed that exact way just moments caught in time, fascinating stuff here yet again Billy, nice job!

Due to a story told by Horace Logan, Elvis received in those days $200,00 for a Saturday night in the Louisiana Hayride with Bill, Scott and DJ. In December 1956, mister Logan used the words 'Elvis has left the building' after an Elvis show. For the first time I guess, but I'm not sure. Thanks for the great video, Spa Guy!

WOW ! So many subjects im this Elvis History lesson. Elvis ,Scotty, DJ. , vintage postcard (social media in 1955) Ernul N.C. ,historical post office/town center ,father n son adventure ,beautiful country ,urban exploring ,John Deere Green ,Glory eye n sky virtual view of course, reenactment skills extraordinaire , photo match ups to current status. Much more I'm certain in this piece of the Elvis puzzle. You did great with this one and made it so special having your own father with you and explaining things like the electric insulator on top of building still there and previous porches stairs etc... Please bring father along for more adventures if possible. This reminds me of my own childhood with my own father exploring these same type areas N.C. East Tn. KY. Dad was traveling salesman in the territory and took me along on many journeys we explored and navigated. way back in small places like this. He sold heavy specialized hauling and rigging services to manufacturers that many times started as family business out in country and grew much larger but remained home based. I was blessed to see the country just like this on trips with my dad explaining the things used to be and seeing much of country before landscape was gone forever. This was great start to my week ! Thank y'all so much Billy Sr Billy Jr

We need the rest of the story! Put the drewtective on it and see who owns the place, get more pictures and see if you can get in. People like you that preserve history are priceless. Great Job! And big kudos for taking your dad along. Those shared moments are really special! Maybe that moment in Elvis' life wasn't the biggest but it was an important moment. All those early days are the best in my opinion. Elvis was on an adventure with his band mates and like your dad said, they were probably almost out of gas and trying to find anywhere to fill up and this little place became part of history that morning. Soo cool!!

Nice Starsky skills SG. These old buildings are very cool. As an aside,,the little town where i grew up had a very similar building right next to railroad tracks. can barely remember it being the post office on the left side and on the right side of the building was small grocery store. It was a two story and the people that run the store and PO lived up there. Much the same as your post card there were still remnants of a depot station on the opposite side of the RR tracks. By my time the little railroad burg had died out and all the small town depots were closed of course. This looks like one of those 'confusion junction' spots were several roads converge then redistribute in other directions. Like your Dad said ,,would about bet a dollar to a donut the Blue Moon Boys didn't have a road map to their name. They rolled 'by the seat of their pants' from gig to gig. Thanks again.

I decided to look up this building in Google Earth. Looking at the aerial photos, you can tell the building has been rapidly deteriorating over the past years. In the 2017 aerial photo, the two story porch was still present, but gone as of 2018. Also, by 2019, a portion of the metal roof has been ripped back by a wind storm, exposing the interior (which is also obvious in the drone footage). I imagine the decay of this build will only accelerate more rapidly now with a portion of the roof gone. The building itself could easily be gone within a few years. Google also has a street view of the building from 2007, which more clearly shows the porch. It was looking pretty rickety in 2007, so it may have collapsed sometime in 2017 or 2018... or was torn down to prevent local kids from getting hurt on it. The sign out front is also visible in the 2007 photo. It doesn't appear to be the sign seen in the barn. It appears to be wider and has the word "General" visible on it... most likely for a general store.

It makes me wonder what Elvis was doing when Scotty was mailing the postcard. Maybe he went in the store and got a Pepsi to drink. Or maybe he was asleep in the backseat of the car. Maybe Bill or DJ was pumping the gas. I'm glad the store is still there, although I wish it wasn't in such bad condition. It's amazing you found this! Nice that your dad was with you too.
