Hard to believe Elvis would have been 90.It does not seem like five minutes since my sister came running into the kitchen to tell me of a newsflash announcement that he had sadly died.Long live the king.My granddaughter shares his birthday and is 9 years old.Great video as always.👍👑

Great report! I love Elvis, and this year is so special that his 90th birthday celebration, should last throughout the whole year. He was such a gift to humanity in so many ways. Most important of his gifts, his mother Gladys Love Smith Presley taught him, to love God the Father and His Beloved Son Jesus. Seek yea first Elvis taught us and we heard him and we do follow that example TCB⚡️God’s business.

🏆🎖️🏅🥇💖🙋🏻‍♂️🎞️🎥📽️🎬💖💖💖💘💖 XOXOXO!!! 👏👏👏

Thanks for another great video .. I loved all those tattoos, mine looked quite insignificant compared to some of the others that you pointed out at the end of the clip! I don't think I could stand having all that work done on my skin, mine took 4 hours and that was enough! Nice to see our Aussie Parkes Elvis festival mentioned. I've never been there, it's a bit too far away from me to drive, but always love seeing the news reports on tv. Love seeing what other fans did for his 90th. I met up with two other fans in a local cafe and we had your teeshirts on, took an Elvis mug to have my coffee in, Elvis coasters to put on the table, and an American flag and happy birthday sign to put on the cake!

Hi Emiel, great beginning for a new Elvis year on your part, well done!!! Trivia answers are: it was Millie Perkins who played the part of Elvis mother in the TV series, she co-starred with the real Elvis in the movie “Wild in the country” in 1960. The second answer is: song that has the lyrics “loneliness is darkness first companion” is “We can make the morning”. Let’s see what Baz Luhrmann makes out of the 1970 and 1972 outtakes… the Elvis movie was good, I believe, but too factually incorrect and a bit over the top in my opinion! 😂
@ElvisPress
@ElvisPress 8 күн бұрын
Baz never said that the ELVIS 2022 movie was a historical correct documentary. That was never his aim. His aim was to make a captivating movie, and in order to do that he took some liberties with some of the facts. I did not mind because otherwise it would be the exact same movie as This Is Elvis. And there was no use in making a This Is Elvis - part Two. /// I also got the impression - looking at the trailer AND the info from Baz - that he is only using the TTWII material. He explicitly talks about Warner Brothers, and NOT M-G-M who own the EOT material. So we will see the 1970 out-takes and NOT the 1972 ones when I interpret correctly the things he showed and told. One of the reasons why Baz took on this project - in my humble opinion - is his connection with Warner Brothers! They were the production house for ELVIS (2022)....and also for TTWII (1970)!!! If this new movie of Baz becomes a success..., maybe...MGM will do something similar with their material... Fingers crossed. Kind regards, Emiel
@AngelAlbizu-j5j
@AngelAlbizu-j5j 8 күн бұрын
@@ElvisPress Nevertheless… the first teaser trailer begins with COLOUR footage from the long interview Elvis gave to the EOT people, so… fingers crossed! If not, well, TTWII outtakes in pristine quality will be priceless too!!!

@@ElvisPress Actually, it could have presented itself in exactly the way Baz Luhrmann envisaged and could still have been historically accurate. After all, what does being historically inaccurate add to the film, apart from being inaccurate and presenting a false narrative? Granted, it painted Elvis in a more positive light than most, but its cartoonish approach wasn't the best way to go, and the predicted bucketful of awards didn't happen because of it. While I looked forward to it, I found it a bit of a letdown.

If I remember it right, the sad reason while the Elvis TV-series only ran for one season, is that they had placed it opposite "The Simpsons" on another channel They tried to move it to another time or day, but then people would have missed the first episodes and were not interested enough to hang in there. So because of a few viewers that took off the show. Taking a extra look at that series you get some funny facts. Billy Green Bush, who played Vernon, was actually born in 1935. 2 years before the TV-series he also played Vernon in "Elvis and Me" from 1988.

Hi Koleskab, Thanks for the additional information concerning the ABC TV Series. In our country (The Netherlands) the series was not shown..., but fortunately it was broadcasted in our neighbouring country of Belgium. We were lucky enough to tune in on their TV-stations; so that was the reason why Dutch fans were also able to see Michael St Gerard play a fantastic Elvis! Hi Emiel ❤ What a packed show full of information. I don't know where to begin. Looks like 2025 is looking like it's going to be a great year for Elvis and his fans. I'm so excited about what Baz is doing. Can't wait to see it. Then we have AI evolution in London. There are lots of must have books coming out too. I loved the Elvis series Michael st Gerard played an amazing young Elvis, in my opinion. The lady in the series wasn't she one of Elvis's girlfriends in wild in the country??? Sorry I don't remember her name, I just recognised her face. Thank you Emiel ❤ stay safe and I will see you next month. Bye for now ❤❤❤

I couldn't agree more! It is indeed a packed show with about 2 months of information. I am really looking forward to Guralnick's book! I too am going to see Elvis Evolution in July, and I am confident that Luhrmann will do Elvis justice. I hoped he would use the tapes of TTWII and EOT and combine those two. But looking at the information that is currently available (...he talks about Warner Brothers and the clips in the teaser are all from TTWII...) I think he will only use the outtakes of That's The Way It Is. We as fans should be very grateful that Baz is doing this. The use of TTWII outtakes was high on the list of Elvis fans for many years..., now finally it is coming to fruition! Have a good weekend and thanks for watching! (Spread the word!) Till next month. As to the Elvis carnival, why would any self-respecting Elvis fan don a badly-fitting, badly-made jumpsuit, along with wearing a ridiculous-looking bouffant of a wig - with those wearing them, more often than not, weighing about three times more than Elvis did at his heaviest. Sorry, but I wouldn't turn up to watch it, because it's events like these that perpetuate the idea that Elvis was some kind of joke. There are those that say it keeps Elvis in the spotlight. Really? The greatest music icon of all time needs fat men in jumpsuits to keep his legacy alive? Yes, if you want his legacy to be that of a joke. No, what he needs are more serious evaluations of his talent and influence - both on music and popular culture. Such things are undermined by silly carnivals that, if anything, disrespect Elvis and his legacy. 'Lighten up' I hear some say, but as an Elvis fan of almost 50 years' standing, why should I?

Hi Joe, I fully understand about what you are writing. Yes, I also read things in the comments like ' I loved the parade !! '. It goes to show that everyone has its own tastes, and the fact that 20,000 people are showing up for the festival shows that there is 'a market' for it. From what I heard from some American ETA's who performed in Parkes, they all said that it was a bizarre experience. They are used to sing to seated elderly ladies who adore them in the U.S...., but in Parkes the entire audience exists of dressed up people!!!! As if they were performing for a bunch of lunatics!!! --- Those men and women in the audience don't take their selves very serious during those 4 days. Whereas those ETA's really think they are something!! It must be a sobering experience to them! 🙂. It puts them with both feet back on ground! I too am not a fan of ETS's (...to say the least...),and it bothers me even more that Graceland promotes them by hosting the 'World Championships'. If I were in charge (...), I would start with a RETANG festival. RETANG you may think..., what's that!? Well it is an abbreviation I invented myself and it stands for Real Elvis Tribute Artists Next Generation! I would love to see and hear people play Elvis's music but dressed in their own gear, own hair and own mannerisms. I mean: I see a lot of rockabilly bands playing Elvis tunes..., and I fully enjoy those as I am not distracted by jumpsuits, wigs, glasses and movements. Do you know what I mean !? I think that the time is right for it. --- I know that in England there are fanclubs who refuse to book ETA's for their festivals: and those festivals attract a lot of people!!!

Baz Luhrmann > "Its not a documentary or a concert film"! < Is it not Baz ? Then what is it then, will it be a category in film people can relate to, that could've been produced by any other "production team", or Baz, is it a new category in film entirely inventive and ground-breaking as is implied in your statement ? Note to Baz > If you are using hyperbolic bullshitting to sell tickets(not dissimilar to Andreas Cornelis van Kuijk's shenanigans) whatever support you've derived from Presley fans over the past few years is gonna dissipate like a fart in a tornado, make no mistake. Fans and non-fans alike were largely accepting of the Biopic Baz but now you're messing with the genuine article and that's a whole different kettle of fish. Be careful Baz and be warned, keep it real without the hyperbole, Elvis Presley's legacy doesn't need it and know this for a certainty, neither does his fans, so think on!

First..., I am not 100% sure if Baz Luhrmann is reading the comments. Second, this is Baz's first non-fictional movie! (...it is new territory for him, and is depending on the material that is available...). Third, Elvis fans know of the existence of the outtakes and for decades they are asking for its release. No other director or company took on the challenge to listen to the call of the Elvis fans. I think we should be very grateful that Baz's fame opened the doors at Warner Brothers! Those doors were closed for many-many years. Fourth, Baz Luhrmann is an award winning director..., the guy knows his profession! And finally...(Fifth!). Let us make a verdict AFTER we have watched the movie!! Give the man some credit... (think positive!) Regards, Emiel PS: It is just my humble opinion on the project.

@@ElvisPress Thanks for the reply Emiel, I enjoy your journalism its much appreciated. Of course I don't expect Luhrmann to read my comment and I'm well aware of his standing in the movie world and I have enjoyed his movies. Initially when I heard he would be the director of the "Elvis biopic" I thought that he would be a great choice because his style would suit the subject matter! I also think that his foresight of calling the biopic "Baz Luhrmann's Elvis" instead of just "Elvis"(as was the case in the TV movie) was a very savvy and respectable one in the sense that now the door is open for many more Elvis biopic's by other film-makers to have their own unique perspective on Elvis without having to claim this is the true representation of who he was which is virtually impossible to do. That aside, when I hear what I consider to be "hyperbolic statements" from anyone, erring on the side of caution is my default position. I am sure we all have a fairly good idea of what has been found in the vaults, I.E. - "documentary concert footage", what fans don't need is hyperbolic statements about being presented with something that excludes those elements and leaving the fans feeling dissatisfied and out of pocket( and screaming for the full unedited un-messed about with straight forward footage in a reasonably priced package that would suffice any self respecting fan of Elvis! " Let us make a verdict AFTER we have watched the movie" will not save any fans from "feeling dissatisfied and out of pocket", so to instil confidence fans need to hear respectful straight talk from Baz not mysterious hyperbolic Parker-esque carnival spiel about something that everyone knows is simply "documentary concert footage"! Elvis Presley fans are sick and tired of the "snow job" they are routinely subjected to. Just saying! All the best Emiel!

Okay... thanks for your extensive explanation of your initial comment. I now understand much better what your concerns are. It is the way he is selling the movie that bothers you currently! Yeah, you have a point..., but that's the way Baz is. (...pun intended!...). Maybe things work this way these days in the media to get attention. About the movie: I - personally - am not interested in looking at hours of rough material (though some fans would love to). I rather watch a movie that captivates me, and tells a good story. (Like the 2022 ELVIS movie). And there is no use of making a TTWII volume 2. I mean TTWII worked fine in 1970, but we are now 55 years later!!! Movie goers nowadays have other desires compared to those in the 1970s. As an example: When in 2001 TTWII came out on DVD producer Rick Schmidlin had eliminated 12 minutes of 'the talking heads' that were featured in the original. And now in 2025 the audience had other tastes. So I don't envy Baz for taking up this challenge! Regards, And all the best! Emiel
