I love how you got into the energy of it. And yeah it's almost always like he's just up there talking and telling stories and by all accounts he was a very funny person but then he had the vocal pipes and the skills to back it up. And the dance moves of course and it amazes me to think that he had no formal vocal training. He just grew up in the church and partially in the black community as a child and I don't think he ever forgot that he was born into poverty. It's too bad that it couldn't handle all the pressure but he always wanted to please his fans.

I love your reaction, cause you really get into it! Yes, smooth operator is a good description. When I see some of these guys bopping around the stage like pogo sticks, I think "there's no "cool" in that. Elvis had moves, but everything about him was smooth, including even his speaking voice, his walk, and yes his dance moves! Thank you for doing this... I loved your observations.

@timcarr64014 жыл бұрын
That drummer is "Hard-workin' Ronnie Tutt. When Elvis and James Burton were picking out band members they had all but decided on another drummer. But they (primarily Elvis) gave Ronnie a shot. Elvis appreciated the fact that Ronnie would always have his eyes on him, watching his every move, and punctuating them with riffs. When Elvis died he he joined Neil Diamond's band for a few decades.

I know this, my Husband was a professional Bass player, Bass and Drums are linked! He did a lot of Elvis material, and did it well, but he told me, I'd Never play for/with him, because he's all over the place! Elvis was a Drum man, the Bass player, played hell keeping up with the drums! NOBODY took their eyes off him, I never knew you could direct that many people with your body, but he did!

Yeah, he recorded "Potato Salad Annie" but it didn't go over with the crowd too much. You know the lyrics weren't biting enough. "Potato Salad was in the grocery stores and the markets. She'd go out in the evenings and pick up some. She'd carry it home and didn't have to cook it for supper, because they'd have meatloaf usually. But they did all right." LOL. I'm just kidding obviously --all from an innocent remark you made at 6:48.
