Elvis uses his Big Boss Man, deep voice (low larynx) when performing this song. I heard a vocal expert say in an analysis video that Elvis often sang in his "low larynx", a place often used by opera singers. But one quality (of many qualities) that made his vocalizations remarkable was his ability to control his voice in such a manner to seamlessly transition from low larynx to high larynx (commonly used by pop singers).

@@DaniAtkinson My mom was a huge Elvis fan. He was coming to town in December of 77 she got tickets to take me and my brother and of course he died in August that year. I wish I still had those tickets and now you know why your reacts to the King have special meaning to me

Even older than that, although the Ma Rainey version was the first commercial recording of the song in 1924. Several old blues performers of the time reported having heard versions of the song as far back as the early 1900s.

The more I watch your video reactions the more fun it becomes. They are all great, but when you do a new elvis one it is all the more fun to watch knowing how much you care about him.
