I was a child when Elvis died. I didn't really know who he was before that, but you can bet your ass I new who Merle Haggard was. He's a musical geneous and a poet.

I always liked Merle's voice - very recognizable much like Elvis's voice was by itself different than anyone else's. The only thing with this song - which I like - is that Gladys died at 46 and Elvis at 42, not at the same age. But that aside, great song!
