Keep in mind: Elvis is doing BOTH parts of what was a duet between a very high tenor and a very low and rich baritone. You can hear him pushing his voice lower to do the Bill Medley part. He's got the tenor part: no problem. It's pretty amazing because this wasn't an easy song to sing by TWO singers in different registers, let alone one! As Bob Dylan once said "when Elvis did a song, it was DONE!."

I personally think Elvis owned this song. Thank you so much for playing it. The righteous brothers version is the most known of the versions but Elvis is the most fun to watch.
@RobinMarkowitzcoolmedia

The Righteous Brothers cut a wonderful record on this song. But it took both of them to do it! And neither had the strong gospel core that Elvis had every time he sang a good song. I wish he'd made a studio version. Not necessarily a 45 rpm single, but definitely an album cut, doing his usual 30 to 40 takes before he was satisfied. Can you imagine this recorded in Memphis with the American Sound musicians? It boggles the mind! (But Chips didn't want to overdo the covers. He permitted a few like "Gentle On My Mind" and "Only The Strong Survive," but Chips, like Sam Phillips before him, wanted Elvis to do either originals {not previously released by any other singer}, or little-known songs.)

Once elvis had a death threat and he still did the show even though he could call off and he did this song facing away from the audience. I don’t know when but it was sometime in the 70s. He had many death threats in the 70s. So he carried guns with him in his boots.

1970. After the cameras were gone from the movie. And he did it. It seemed to change him. I can't say I know how he felt, but it could have been quite traumatizing for him. He wasn't an adolescent anymore as in the early days and so he took it very seriously. Yet he did his job. That's integrity and guts. 👍

Elvis sang with a lot of passion. He wanted us to feel the lyrics and emotion of the song.He also used physical expression like in this one he went down on his knees slowly and then came up slowly. .He knew how to express emotion and bring his own style to each song...

Dancing with my 5 sisters on the living room forest green carpet! The list is endless of why we all so loved the Man. My love and appreciation for Elvis deepens with passing time. I love how you love and appreciate him as well my distant brothers… ❤️🙏🏽 Peace be with you 🕊🌎

Y'all got some ads now huh...jk. Ya just can't compare things to Elvis. There's Elvis, then there's everybody else. It was actually a compliment when Elvis did his version of someone else's song...it wasn't to challenge them, he was a performer. He liked the song enough to record & arrange it to his liking. He also in doing so put the spotlight on the original artists making listeners that would never have taken an interest in them actually see what they were about. Hell, ain't Elvis' fault he was just that damn good! PEACE!

Do yourself a favor and watch (or listen) to Elvis's ABSOLUTELY haunting version of Bob Dylan's.."Tomorrow is a Longtime"...I heard it last year for the first time ever after being bred and raised in a home where when Elvis came on Radio or the television...everyone immediately shut up until he was finished...and if American Trilogy came on...you stood and put your hand over your heart...Its was no different in my Dads mind than That National Anthem ....Being from Dallas TX.....It actually was our anthem....I thought I'd heard alllll of Elvis's songs.....I was wrong...Last year I came across Tomorrow is a Longtime ...

The legendary 'wall of sound' producer, Phil Spector, is co-writer along with hit writers Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil.. Spector had always wanted to work with Presley but Presley's manager, Colonel Tom Parker, would prohibit it at any cost... However, Here in 1970 Presley would get his way with the song alone, without Spector... this is a all-out fiery performance from concert film, 'That's The Way It Is'

Pleeease do a reaction one to Mama Liked The Roses And also to the song My Boy which used to hold a pub spellbound that I sometimes went in when I was younger! It had a juke box with several Elvis songs and it was amazing how people changed when they were on. My Boy has some beautiful parts where he just speaks a couple of words here and there but it just gets you...something in that sound! Also surprise yourself with Crawfish because it's from the film King Creole and is really awesome. Ok one more but watch it at the same time.. Trouble... also from the film King Creole. It's a superb part of the film where a horrible guy makes him sing on a stage believing he can't. Yeah everyone loves that bit of the film! Lol

Yup, Righteous Brothers (Bill Medley & Bobby Hatfield) were 1st, in 1964. It's been covered by a lot of people. Elvis included it in his Vegas show in the late 60s and recorded it about 1970. Elvis and Bill Medley (the deep voice in the Righteous Brothers) were friends. There's a video where Bill talks about Elvis messing with him on stage when Bill was performing 'You've Lost That Loving Feeling' (at 3:25, kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4Knm5eJrst9fNU). And just for those who don't know; The song, 'I've Had The Time of My Life', from the movie Dirty Dancing, is Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes.
