And that never left him either that compassion that caring that generosity Elvis was a very caring person he had a big heart who just never ever stop the giving I got a feeling deep down inside that he was still alive today he'd still be giving May he rest in peace

That was a great story on Elvis..he was taught at a early age.right from wrong. And to give to others when he didn't have much to give his self. That just shows you the type of man that Elvis was through his life.👍

Elvis was brought up with principles that he never forgot. Kids today need this kind of parenting.

ADORBS! Go Gladys! Such a great mother! What a sweet boy she raised. Humble obedient and respectful little boy. And never stopped being so. And how great of Elvis to remember the story and to feel the desire to share it. I knew about this David but I’m glad you are posting it for those who haven’t! 👍

The only person Elvis would listen to was his mother. It's so sad that she passed away so young and when he really needed someone to keep him in check. .

Gladys meant the world to Elvis. She was very frugal with money, they were in no means rich, and taught Elvis discipline and humanity… love the comic books story 👍💯T⚡️C⚡️B

He shared his -what ever he had- as a kid. Some pastry he also shared? He was such a good hearted man. And he didn't give away because he was rich. Because he cared. ❤❤ thank you David

I never heard the story about the stolen candy. As you said, it was very touching. I recently heard an interview that Elvis did in 1962. He said that he was thankful for his family and being raised the way that he was (paraphrased). He also said that he experienced different phases in life ..."I have experienced happiness, loneliness, wealthy side of life of life, the average side of life, NOT HAVING ANYTHING, but NOT KNOWING WHAT ITS LIKE TO HAVE ANYTHING etc.." I thought that comment was quite poignant. Thanks David.

That's a sweet story, mainly sweet cuz of the candy LOL. Every kid wants candy including Elvis. But anyway, I'm glad Gladys taught him honesty, right and wrong and generosity. I realize some people like to say that's a religious thing but not being a religious man myself I can honestly say that it's just a good moral to have regardless. That lesson is what made him the man he was. Elvis forever TCB⚡

Yep, don’t have to be religious necessarily to do positive things

Parents didn't try to blame someone else. Think they do that now. If you did something wrong nobody made you do it. You were punished and had a consequence!

------------Minor clarification: the comics you showed are not the Capt Marvel Elvis loved. Marvel Comics presumptuously bought the name "Capt Marvel" for their own super hero they created AFTER the original Capt Marvel (more recently of DC comics). Marvel somehow desperately wanted the name because it was the same name as their comic company. Stupid DC comics agreed, and renamed their Capt Marvel comic book to SHAZAM.
