I agree...Elvis was kind and gentle but regarding money he trusted too much and he should have listened to good advisors.

Interesting, I agree Elvis was way too generous. Imo I don't blame him for getting upset, I would of, especially in 1976. Isn't Dr Nick the Dr who prescribed all those pills and ended up getting sued, etc. Hmm

Dr. nick ended up losing his medical practice later on. He prescribed thousands of pills to Elvis the last years Elvis lived. He was completely out of control.

Sounds like he probably made the right move. I would assume he did make the Right move. I mean racquetball in my opinion. Probably wouldn't have been that successful of a business investment. Call me crazy lol. He shouldn't even have been bothered with this. Instead he should have been doing world tours. Too busy to even have to deal with this nonsense
@lolajokerАй бұрын
Racquetball had become quite a fad in the mid 70’s, much like Pickleball is now, with indoor Pickleball courts popping up all over. I remember a racquetball court opening near us in 1977. Would it have been a good investment? I don’t know. Racquetball sort of fizzled out just a few years later so maybe not.

Thanks for refreshing my memory on that. Sandi (Gate Girl) said the last time she saw Elvis was in 4/77 in Palm Springs. At that time, he told her that planned on making some changes after the 8/77 tour. Namely, he planned taking care of his health and making a few personnel changes. I think two of those people that he was considering firing were Parker and Joe E. As far as Joe E., maybe the racquetball fiasco had something to do with that. All the best!

@@sherroncunningham7845 I agree. Elvis was really pissed off over this, and he was planning to fire Joe when he died. He kept Dr. Nick because Elvis completely owned him. Dr. Nick loaned hundreds of thousands of dollars from Elvis which is highly unethical. Dr. Nick was a doctor, and Elvis was the patient. A doctor isn`t supposed to loan money from his/her patient. Dr. Nick was a very shady character. He eventually lost his medial license, and ended up selling empty pill boxes with Elvis`s name on to the highest bidder at auctions. Those pills killed Elvis.. Dr. Nick was a spineless, and greedy coward.

Dr. Nick borrowed $$ from Elvis for his house. He paid the loan back to him in full, I believe though it was after Elvis died, Nick paid the estate (or Vernon.) PILLS did not kill Elvis. I thought Elvis gave them more money because Joe had put his MOTHER's house up for collateral and Elvis didn't want Joe's mother to lose her home? Like several others, I did not care for Joe!!!!!! Also remember, Elvis had fired Joe in the sixties and Joe went back to his hometown and couldn't find a job. Joe called Marty a few times wanting Marty to say something to Elvis about hiring him back. He was out of work for several months and Marty was handling things, foreman like position. Marty did finally say something to Elvis and Elvis supposedly left it up to Marty as to if he should hire Joe back. Marty told Elvis, he could use the help and hiring someone that hadn't been in the circle of things, it would take longer, because they would have to start from scratch and train an outsider...so Elvis told Marty, that Joe could come back. IMO, taking Joe back was a big mistake! Joe came across to me as being a big time suck up and two faced, only out for himself! The Colonel's snitch!
@charlenedonovan8948Ай бұрын
I wish Joe would never have been hired back. But Parker wanted Marty out of that position because Marty wrote notes on the checks defining what the expenditures were for. Including one that Parker wanted, a $50K check...Marty said he had to check with Elvis for that kind of money. Parker argued with him. Parker wanted Joe as foreman because Joe reported back to Parker in detail about Elvis' personal life doings. Marty would not report to Parker. He told Parker he worked for Elvis not him. lol. Good for Marty!

Dr. Nick and Joe ripped Elvis off. And when you think about how much Elvis did for them, and how many expensive gifts he gave them it`s incredible that they could do something like that to him. And if Elvis wanted to invest his money in a racquetball hall business why did he need two deadbeats like Dr. Nick and Joe with him. They had NOTHING to offer. Dr. Nick owed Elvis $250 000 in a personal loan that Elvis had given him, and Joe had received cars, motorcycles, jewelry, and money gifts worth hundreds of thousands of dollars from Elvis over the years. It`s too bad they were so greedy. The Elvis mafia were a bunch of leaches. After Elvis passed away they sold Elvis`s secrets to the highest bidder. I have no love for those guys. They were really shady characters.

I think Vernon could have been behind this just like I think Vernon was behind the firing of Red, Sonny and Dave. I’ve read a story where Vernon yelled at all the MM around 1976, saying they were taking advantage of Elvis. Sonny tells a story about asking Elvis for plane tickets for his son and wife and Elvis telling him that he’ll have Vernon set that up. When Sonny called the airport there were no tickets. Sonny visited Elvis to tell him and said something like, I think your daddy forgot to set up the tickets. A few minutes later Ricky Stanley (I think) went to Sonny and asked what he had said to Elvis because Elvis was ranting and raving about Sonny badmouthing his daddy. I think in Elvis’ impaired state in 1976, Vernon, who never liked the guys anyway, was pressuring Elvis to get rid of them and probably telling Elvis that they were taking advantage of him. If Dr. Nick wasn’t with Elvis on tour, this would have been around the time of the Houston concert ( Houston We Have A problem).

Yes, I knew because I read it in some biographies of Elvis (told in a different way) and excuse me but I don't trust Dr Nick's version very much: if they needed "only" Elvis' name why did they go bankrupt? After all, Elvis paid them the penalty and gave them the loan they asked for, they should have made it and instead.....so I repeat I don't trust Dr Nick's version, perhaps I am prejudiced but.....In my opinion, just another proof of Elvis' naivety in not being able to recognize bad deals and especially bad friendships, false and opportunistic people! Even without ever having met them and even without this detail, "instinctively" I never liked them, especially Joe Esposito who is often (wrongly) considered one of Elvis' most trusted and sincere friends. My feeling, on the contrary (and today often confirmed by the various "discoveries"), has always been that of a fake friend of Elvis, much more interested in his own personal gain, one that according to many who knew him, felt "superior" (smarter, more intelligent, more capable) compared to the other guys around Elvis, feelings that in reality had been "given" to him by Parker for whom he really worked! (SPYING Elvis and reporting to the bastard), or by the other "good girl" who had the only goal of annoying Elvis and getting money. The three (Parker, Priscilla, Joe), in fact, remained very close even after Elvis' death, defending each other and speaking well of each other.......... .About the great Joe' friendship with Priscilla do you know that when she married Elvis, she was the one who decided that starting that moment only Joe was authorized to take pictures of Elvis? Until that day all the guys could....just a little start of the beginning of the way how "Priscilla & friends" wanted to take control of Elvis life....... Reading some Elvis's biographies, was Joe who often made money behind Elvis' back, asking fans money to get in. In any case he was the one who decided his own the people who could meet Elvis! (Of course on Parker's orders, the one he really worked for! And in the end poor Elvis paid for everyone, both financially and psychologically!
@vicki6070Ай бұрын
You mentioned Parker, Prissy and Joe, but, I think, you could throw Jerry S. into the mix, as well. I did not know that Prissy was the one that authorized only Joe E. to take pics of Elvis, once they were married. Thanks.

Why don’t you do a story on how and why Ginger sued the Presley estate after Elvis died. Type in Ginger Alden vs Elvis Presley estate- it totally contradicts her books version and you will see just how she and her family USED ELVIS - it’s despicable- She knew Elvis was dead hours before he died. She even called her mother and between their calls they made a deal with enquirer and or another company for the latest scoop coming out from Graceland - now, this has nothing to do with the law suit however, it does explain just what kind of person she and her mother is /were. Ironically, Ginger husband died in 2015 I believe but guess what month and day ? August 16th 2015 -Can you say Karma.
