This is proof that it doesn't matter where your born and how poor you are you can rise and better yourself. Elvis was a shy, sweet southern boy that grew up on ole fashion southern gospel and grew into a young man who never lost his love for the Lord or his parents. He respected everyone and addressed them as sir and man. When Elvis started making money the first thing he did was buy a house for his parents, a promise that he made to his Momma only as a little child. In 1957 Elvis bought Graceland and moved his Momma and Daddy from Audubon Drive to the fourteen acre mansion. The more money Elvis made the more giving he became often buying friends and sometimes strangers new Cadillacs. Elvis donated to over fifty charities and bought people groceries and paid their bills when people were down on their luck. Elvis even bought Jerry Schilling and several people houses. Elvis did all of this without any recognition. It wasn't until after Elvis passed away that people started telling about all of the good things that Elvis did. He blessed so many people with his great music often preforming to raise money for charities. God bless him. May he rest in peace.

I was blessed to meet Elvis in 1956 through his cousin, Red West. He was so friendly and kind and was willing to talk with me, my sister and my cousin. Red took us to Elvis' dressing room and we gave him a big teddy bear which Elvis put to his chest and said he would call it Jitney Gene. He signed several autographs for us because we were from one of his fan clubs. I will never forget how he took the time to be so kind to us. This was something I will NEVER forget!!!

What a lovely memory you will always have, and you were fortunate indeed to have met Elvis. I'm sure there are many all over this world who have wished they were given that opportunity. Red West I should add though was not Elvis's cousin. Red was a high school friend who became one of the Memphis Mafia along with his cousin Sonny West.

The World's Greatest Entertainer hardly traveled and never toured outside the USA. He went to Germany for his military service but little besides that. His connection with the world speaks volumes for his charisma, charm, and vocal frequency. Unlike other global icons like the Jacksons, Rolling Stones, or Beatles, Elvis had to manage the pressure of having to deal with his celebrity status all by himself.

@@odiekarone i believe there was actually more to it than just being here illegally because he could have changed his status if he wanted to, living in US and also enlisting in the army. I think there were other unsavory activities on his part and if he left the country they probably wouldn’t let him back in. He was a sheister, but was actually good for bringing Elvis into his fame. He had lot of connections in the business and with people in the upper circles. I don’t think without him we would know who Elvis was today. So he deserves credit for that.

Elvis himself was making 25,000 bucks a week in 1956 enough money at that time to buy a house each week, he was a massive spender, less than 12 months after making the big time he was a millionaire. Parker at this time was on 25% and it was parker who dreamed up the merchandise which Elvis was getting a 75% share of. Parker was only on 50% 10 years on when Elvis record sales were at thier lowest and movies were of much lower quality. Elvis Worked hardest in 56/57 after that it was a movie made in 6 weeks, a week to cut an Album, 6 month's vacation a year when he wasn't working, but buying half a dozen cars, motorcycles and jewellery. Even homes for friends and giving 10k gold watches and things to other stars he met. One things for sure, he was never not spending vast amounts of money. He had all those living at graceland on the pay roll, including his own private Dr and nurse, he'd catch a plane to go to the dentist or have something to eat. Plus the things he gave to charity each year. He did very well out of the deal better than any other performer of his time. Many of his peers were forced to travel and tour through Europe, gruelling flights, jet lag, travelling through city to city, staying wherever they could. Elvis had easy big paying gigs in Las Vegas, no touring required. His actual stints weren't that long as can be seen that he'd been on vacation for 6 weeks before he died, he was working 4 weeks at a time and 6 weeks off, Hardly over work for a 40 year old man. So working 16 weeks of the year touring, no movies being made and recording equipment brought to his home so he could knock out an Album in a week

His Best Friend was Charlie Hodge whom I met! They met in the Army! Elvis is so badly missed by everybody who knew him or listened to his music! Elvis was a man of Great Character and a loving man who loved people and especially his family! It really hurt Elvis when Prissy moved out and filled for divorce! It crushed him! He lost his mother…..his wife and his family! I never got to see him perform but I really loved Elvis Presley! I loved him for who and what he was! He was God’s Special Angel and He Blessed Many with out a reason! Really his reason was love! Elvis is what Jesus told Peter to do and that is love! Elvis is love! He loved his family, his friends and his fans but more than that he loved God! Tyvm

He spent 6 months on the Russian front in a tank and was a scout for the army. It was spent in the tank and a tent to sleep in the freezing cold. He got a portable heater for the tank,so he and his Sargent could stay warm in the tank. He woke up during the night and smelled the fumes and his sargent was semi conscious and he pulled him out of the tank and saved his Sargent's life. This was never told by Elvis, it came from a soldier that was there on the line in another tank

I've always understood that Jesse, not Elvis was born first. In fact it wasn't until after Jesse had been delivered that it was discovered that there was a second baby. And then Elvis was then delivered. Elvis didn't record That's Alright Mama and Blue Moon of Kentucky on the same day. In fact it was sometime later. First 'That's Alright Mama would be played on the radio by local Memphis DJ Dewey Philips. After receiving much attention and causing quite a stir, they realised that they didn't have a B-side. They needed to cut another song in order to release it. That song would be 'Blue Moon of Kentucky.' And so Elvis' first SUN single was released. Elvis never actually played the Grande Ole Opry. He never got past the audition. The first house that Elvis purchased was on 1034 Audubon Drive, not a house on 'Get Well Street in Memphis. Elvis did not appear in the film the 'Pied Piper of Cleveland. And by the time that the film was made, Elvis was no longer appearing alongside other artists. He was a one man show. Okay, please, please get your facts right. Sam Philips received $35,000 from RCA Victor for Elvis' contract and yes, Elvis received a $5,000 bonus. In all $40,000, not $30,000 was paid out by RCA Victor. I can't bare to watch anymore of this, it is so inaccurate, it is ridiculous. I mean there is another 75 minutes left to watch and I haven't mentioned every error.

I wished that I could go to one of his shows but being young had no way. I saw him at the movies. I didn’t like the love scenes as they were all the same. Him chasing a girl and her finally surrendering to him. So many women in it. I just wanted to hear him sing and see him only. Later on I found out he had to do those because of a contract the Colonel made him sign and that he wanted other ones than those. I did watch him in his leather on television. It was great. I was married, had 2 children and my husband in the Navy. I wouldn’t get to watch him if my husband wasn’t out at that time. He was jealous of Elvis fame and good looks…funny. I am 75 and still love to see videos of him singing and the story behind his success.

Only skipped around to parts of it & since the age of Gladys at her death was wrong I don't plan to continue -- must be lots of bad information here. Gladys was 46 not 47. Btw, Elvis was 2nd born. Jesse was 1st & stillborn.

There are alot of wrong facts. Elvis didn’t get 2nd place in the talent contest. He was 11 when he got his guitar for his birthday and had a choice between that or a bicycle.

I have listened to all of his interviews and in his own words but just crazy about all the misinformation out there but so happy that his legacy still remains and his fans new and old are still in awe of Elvis and never be another man. Tragic and beautiful all at the same time but through his music he still remains and lives in our hearts. May he rest in peace.

Elvis was NOT the first born Twin. Not to criticize, It should be corrected. Elvis was born a half hour later AFTER Jesse. This is a fact. In this video here, the narrator said "Elvis was born first ". That statement is NOT at all correct. Just being clear. It should be corrected. Other than the "hiccup" with the facts, the video here is really awesome and great 👍

You know I have spent my whole life reading everything I could about Elvis. I listened to every radio I could since I I was 2 . I got my first love for music hearing Elvis sing Amazing Grace. I was gone then. As far as I knew in my heart I would always love the one true love of my life Elvis Aaron Presley. And I believed I was the one true love he would ever want. I believed it was so real, it became my reality. When I was just a baby and would cry in my crib with a head full of black curly hair, no one else even heard me crying but when my first tear should fall Elvis was right there so anxious to just cradle me in his broad shoulders and gentle arms and just gently sway back and forth. But the very first time he heard me calling his name, he thought he had made a terrible mistake because his gentle touch would put me right back to sleep. All he wanted was for me to stay awake and see that he’d be by my side always, forever and an eternity.❤

At the time of Elvis' death he had 99 Employees & gave them full benefits. He had 4 planes, 4 tour buses, and an entire stage crew, 18 wheelers, full orchastra, 3 vocal groups, a comedy show & a concert promotion company. He had 3 homes, 3 staff groups, fulltime dr & 2 nurses who lived and took care of him full time. He suffered 4 traumatic brain injuries the last one being in 1967, by 1970 he was suffering MAJOR side effect from an auto immune disease caused from a dislodged piece of brain tissue past his blood barrier. That caused his body to attack it like a foreign substance, it starts attacking its own DNA causing a Auto immune disease. By 1974 he had disease and disorder in 9 out of his 11 body systems NOT counting his 3 GENETIC DISEASES.
