My stepfather was actually in the army with Elvis. Elvis never kept his pay he gave the guys in his barrack his pay. We have several pictures of Elvis in the Army and pictures of Elvis with my stepfather. I told my stepdad those pictures are probably worth some money, but he said it was a part of his life he doesn't care to part with.

Oh my god, we thank you that there was that era, which leaves us who did not live through it because we were born a few years later to feel like we were there! An era that gives today's young people, who seem lost in the age of globalization, the right to dream! One is the king of this world, one and only, Jesus Christ! In the music scene, Elvis was and will be king!

@asurlybarber3620 A small correction. It was Elvis final nr 1 hit in the USA Billboard top 100 anno 1969 but not in the rest of the world. For ex in 1970 Elvis had a nr 1 in UK with The wonder of you, in Belgium he had a nr 1 hit with Burning Love and even in 1974 with My Boy. And even with his death Way Down was also a nr 1 in UK. To be honest I like all his songs because Elvis is the most versatile singer ever but if people ask me what song makes me really crazy then I answer Jailhouse rock.

I'm English and have been an Elvis fan since the age of 3 years old in 1968. I've been to Graceland several times over. Elvis is truly unsurpassed, noone compares,it is not possible. He changed not only music but also the culture of America in the 1950's. A pure God given talent and also a man of great compassion for others. I had the privilege of standing on the very spot he stood as he recorded this incredible song in 1969 at American Sound Studios in Memphis. That was in August 1987, just to let you know the floor was wooden floorboards. This is my favourite Elvis song, his Memphis sessions of 1969 are a musical masterpiece.

Reggie Young's guitar really drives this song by setting the foundation. The background vocals, strings, brass; the middle eight and then that great fade-out and fade back in. The whole production is fabulous.

Yup, still listening in 24'. People who weren't there in the 50s to witness the incredible and raw, sensational talent that E had, don't know anything. They THINK MJ was the greatest entertainer ever. That's because they NEVER saw Elvis live in the 50s and the profound change thst he had on the entire music culture and industry. I wasn't there either, but when I have seen raw, unedited footage of E live from back then, he was simply incredible. A King for certain. A master of illusion who didn't need a snap on nose or special technology. RAW, Elvis stood alone. Young Michael jackson was also great. But this Elvis, he made it all happen. Was simply incredible. And a victim of his own Rock Legend lifestyle. FACTS

I never saw either Elvis or MJ live and while my favourite song in the world is Billy Jean, even I know that Elvis sits atop that pyramid of the 20th century's most important people that ever lived. Big bang, dinosaurs, meteor kills dinosaurs, Henry VIII, WWI & WWII... Elvis 🔥🔥🔥🔥 That's how it went. Long live the King ❤

Just perfect, the powerhouse bass and drums, the backing vocals to die for, his towering vocals, the sudden shift mid-song that let's you get ready for the massive ending with it's fake fade-out and come back, and a song that will last through the years. It doesn't get any better than this.

Dont care if some people think its not suitable, she always wanted it played when she died... ive been numb all day but hearing this ( i had to play it) has reduced me to tears.. EDIT: thanks everyone for their kind words its been a great source of comfort. If i dont reply its just cause I'm grieving n it hard to reply .. Also all my love n sympathy to others who have mentioned lost love ones ❤❤❤ I have to edit this comment because I'm so touched by all your comments, but I'm hopeless at trying to reply, honestly I'm like oh did i reply to that.. music brings us all together it's very powerful. I'm gonna listen to this song agsin. . I apologise if i dont reply but i appreciate every comment. I often comment on other people n i understand if they dont reply its not lack of gratitude its just hard . Anyway gonna listen agsin n remember my mam.. lots of love folks and thank you. Its funny I've lost my mam ( and my brother last year) his song was ONE BY U2. But music is just amazing the effect it has on our emotions n the memories .be well n enjoy the song I'm gonna play ot now xxx Lordy i have to edit this comment again because one reply really struck me. My mother had a stroke this year and is almost a complete vegetable. When I was a child she would play this for me and her and set up karaoke to play and sing along with....😭😭😭😭 Things will never be the same and this memory will be frozen in time forever. I love you Elvis Presley and so did my mama . .

When I was with Elizabeth Rockwell my name is Samuel Lee Rocha I'm in Milwaukee Wisconsin I'm dealing with a lot of hatred and suffering from shame from being out in the streets the song reminds me of that certain person
