I understand his frustrations. I did a quick search and found out that he literally wrote majority of the hits na ginawa ng Eraserheads. Back then they were releasing albums year after year. Their first 3 albums had nothing but hits. I can't imagine a OPM artist today who can do that. So understandable na during their late years, gusto na nilang baguhin ang sound nila and experiment. But since they were the biggest band in the country back then, people were complaining and the record company were pressuring them to release a more "mainstream" or "hit" na sound like their early days. Kaya yung mga late albums nila ay puro experimental sound, especially yung Natin99. I think it was also one of the reason they broke up, gusto na nila to go their own way, to play their own way.

Andrei K Starting na mag experiment nung Natin99 konte na lang ang nag hit non. The album after that were full of songs that were experimental na or sounded different from their prev songs. One of the reasons is probably because he didn't like being too famous, as he mentioned in this interview. He didn't like it and doesn't miss it.

He even mentioned here that he is now going back to his previous inspirations like Martin Niviera, APO , etc. just like when he was starting. May banda sya na pang heavy na rock , may banda rin sya na para sa mga songs na magaan lang like before.

Huwag kang Mahiya Ely that song was so much a part of the time not only of the Eraserheads but also the country - all the promises of the People Power revolution were dying, the TRAPOs who collaborated with Marcos went unpunished, new criminals and despots rose to power, the people and forces the E-heads challenged with their music continued exploiting people with impunity...it was actually a sad time, when people so exhausted by hope and exhausted by fear were looking again for another messiah, another populist president who was going to rescue everyone just in time and ensure justice and equal opportunity for everyone. It didn’t happen, and maybe it would never happen anyway, but you can’t take back that song! When we heard that the E-heads refused to show up on the Sharon Cuneta show we all cheered - the awful state of OPM in those days, with cono kids strutting around on TV and aping all the fashions of US Top 40 was so deplorable, and when the E-heads stepped on the scene you just pulled the plug on that, just like that, people woke up and started believing in their hopes and dreams on their own terms again. The post-EDSA generation was the Eraserheads generation: the things you went through, the things you sang about, were things that everybody was going through. And with all due respect, the Eraserheads doesn’t belong to you anymore, it belongs to all Filipinos, wherever we are and whatever we are doing, we know the songs and they belong to us!

Yes, but then realized that he was wrong. Nagpadala lang sya sa sinasabi ng media na pang masa. Marami rin namang mayayaman na gusto songs nila. Halos lahat kasi all walks of life gusto songs nila, kaso mas marami ang masa kaya yun yung naging impression nya.

Yam Pagunsan He’s not laos. He’s still in the industry at isa pa lahat naman ng artists may mga prime moments. Tapos na yung prime ni Ely yet his legacy has been cemented. It is still very much felt and present. There’s no expiration date. Rare na lang ang mga katulad ni Ely and the likes. What an music icon.

Naalala ko ung interview nya sa Wake Up with Jim and Saab, ung podcast, sinabi nya why he isn't fond of taking pics with the fans in public places kasi daw he's socially awkward. Kaya napagkakamalan syang snob & intimidated sila ky ely kce baka sila snobin kahit bait naman yan sa mga fans tho sometimes moody sya sabi nya sa int. pero pag good mood sya at may mag- approach na fan sa knya sya pa mismo magsabi na yeah sure selfie super payag sya makipg selfie😂 Grabe noh he's legend, rock icon, sikat na and all.. eh he's still just like one of us parin 😊 and maganda din personality nya. :)

That's part of Ely's musical evolution as an artist. parang tang ina pare ganto na tugtugan ko eh dapat makinig kayo. as he matures dun nya napansin na parang mali yung lyrics nun ah parang mali na pinipilit ko sila sumabay. that's why ayaw nya siguro ng PSM. Pero thats part of his/their legacy as a band di matatawag na legend sila kung wala yung flavor ng PSM. Everything and every song fell right into its place kaya ang gabda ng pagkakasalansan ng legacy nila. Mejo hawig nga lang sa Beatles pero damn! way too far kung titignan maigi
