A nice day out in the summer sun at Ely. I think I done a good job of capturing the aura of Ely. A quiet town with a larger than life cathedral that just happens to have a rail junction or two. Passenger trains mainly consist of units of some description and the days freights were unfortunately a host of 66's. However, I feel this video remains to be a spectacle of movements, if only for the decoration, scenery and flowers. The station has an unusual layout of tracks with a level crossing right next to it. I walked up to the Ipswich junction to get different angles. Was a nice walk by the canal. Ely comes very highly recommended to station buffs and line siders. Arrived 09:00 and went home about 19:00. Thanks for watching I hope you enjoy the ride.
Ely connects to Peterborough going West, Kings Lynn going north, Ipswich going West, Cambridge, Hitchin, Stansted and London (Liverpool St, Kings X) south.
