The M.Zuiko 100-400 mm f/5-6.3 IS is a terrific lens. I keep the IS turned off as my E-M1X's IBIS works very well at slower shutter speeds. I've found that leaving the IS engaged on the lens causes some AF hesitation when mounted on my E-M1X. My most common set-up is using this lens with the MC-14 teleconverter. When fully extended it gives me an aperture of f/9 at an efov of 1120 mm which is still acceptable for most of the bird photography that I do... which is typically BIF or insects in flight. I regularly shoot this lens up to ISO-6400 and as long as my image isn't underexposed at that ISO the files clean up nicely in post (I use a combination of DxO DeepPRIME and Topaz Denoise AI. In a pinch I've shot this lens up to ISO-16000... which does take some additional attention in post. I've also used this lens with the MC-20 teleconverter when photographing dragonflies. Good light is absolutely necessary as the aperture is f/13 when fully extended at an efov of 1600 mm. Tom

I have this lens for more than a year. Without any problem I use ISO 1600 or higher if necessary and use Denoise for reduction noise if it is too much.

Hello, I'm a new friend here from Singapore. I am also an Olympus camera user. I've borrowed and used this lens before and it's great for wildlife photography. But I prefer to use the lighter M.Zuiko 75-300mm lens attached to my OMD EM5 camera. Anyway, thanks for sharing. Have a nice day and stay connected.👍🔔

I'm an Olympus user and like the system very much. That said, the complaint of the f/5-6.3 aperture restriction is found all over the full-frame world of zoom lenses. In the field however, 'I'e seen plenty of full-framers using these slow lenses (budgets are important, don't you know). AND, these full-frame lenses are more inexpensive IF you don't care about weatherizing. Yet the clincher for me is that the Olympus 100-400mm has that extra 100 (200)mm length! NICE!

I have the same combo and use both handheld stabilizers to my satisfaction. I do have a warning: be careful not to accidentally press the unlock button on the camera while walking with this combi! It happened to me recently and the camera crashed! Not the lens because it hung on the sling. Use an extra tethering strap!😊

Hi, can you tell me. Would it not be better to turn off the lens stabilisation and work off the camera ibis only. I own the same lens and I am waiting for delivery of my new OMD EM1X. Cheers from Australia.

When I had the lens, I used both.

For hand-holding, I definitely use both. For shooting off of a monopod it might be worth trying just one or the other.
