Emax Tinyhawk 2 Freestyle XT30, Is It Worth It?

Modified my Tinyhawk 2 Freestyle to use an XT30 connector rather than the split 1S connector and give my take on if it's worth it or not.

I just got the freestyle 3 yesterday as my first ever quad. I didn't expect to jump into beta flight and modding so quickly. Firstly I turned up the video transmitter to 400Mw, after a really embarrassing fly away due to video loss. Next up on my list, is converting to the XT30. They really should have one pre installed. But I'm not complaining, it'll be a good way to get my first real world solder training.

which prop exactly did you put in? and how do I know what props can mount on it? AND more importantly, what you mean by dongle? did you just solder new xt30 connector or you modify the wires also?

See you haven’t had a response.. the xt30 connector comes with thicker gauge wires my friend so bigger power input, so solder new wires to the board rather than just change the connector although both ways would work… I’m trying to find the propellers now 😅 I want those Mann 👌

Dont mess with pids if you are not sure what are you doing, its a same AIO from regular tinyhawk 2... Its great quad for beginners as my self but its been colectting dust since i have bought crux3.. The power sag just ruins the batteries and its so floaty, you are knocking on neighbours doors almost with quad comming out of the loops and flips :) But i will try to solder tx30 to bring it to life again.. Btw i have that kind of props from gemfan, a bit longer flight time but a lot more propwash...

Did you change the throttle limit settings when using the xt30 connector? I think stock throttle is limited caused by the 2x ph2.0 plug gives a lot of voltage sag.

no, didn't have to change the limit since there wasn't one on mine 🤷‍♂️

Neither was on mine. The best Thing was the ease of use with 2s cells and a better charger. Have fun flying😊

Which PID profile and Rate profile are you running? I'm having difficulties understanding the difference between the PID profiles. The rate profiles make more sense as you drastically feel difference when activating rate profile 2 instead of 1 (More aggresive)

I fly PID profile 1, but Rate profile 2 with modifications to increase the top end rotation

Hey heyyyyy I'm gonna be tearing apart my tinyhawk 2 probably this afternoon and give it a little bit of that good stuff(xt30 and elrs). Im pretty excited to play with it again. Its been on the shelf for a while because the d8 sucks.

The d6 and d8 ain’t that bad . If you get good with cheap stuff you will be great with good stuff

You would get a better signal with vtx if it’s upright Laying down like you have is not giving you 100%

@@keithplayspc hey what are better batteries I can have for my emax tinyhawk 2 freestyle drone. Cause it oy flies like for 4 minutes and will the fatshark attitude v6 FPV goggles work for it? My goggles have some bad quality hard to see things but I don't want to spend $450+

Hi I like the upgrade you have done but I would like to use heat shrink tubing on my Tinyhawk 2 for the antennas but I am not too sure what size I need for it to fit so any idea what size I might need Thanks

How much more flight time is to be expected with this mod ?

If you use 520 mah like he did in the video, you can expect to get 4+ minutes but the more mah your battery is, the longer flight time. And in theory you could get a high mah battery and it would let you fly the tiny hawk for 10 minutes but the trade off is that your drone would be much heavier and punching the throttle would be not as significant. I’d suggest something in between like 720mah where you can expect 5-7 minutes of flight time yet it’s not quite big enough where you’d notice a big difference in acceleration.
