We use CDS extensively purely for the memory table. After watching this I was hoping a switch to FDMemTable would give some sort of performance benefit. If anything CDS was a little faster when appending to or sorting/filtering large tables, plus the binary file format for CDS appears to be more compact than FDMemTable. I guess we won't be switching to the "in-memory dataset of the future."

FDMemTable feature-wise is more advanced than DataSnap/ClientDataSet. However, ClientDataSet was so well designed (tech from the good old Borland times) and so ahead of its time when released, that it is still rock-solid today. It's hard to justify rewriting the application to use something else.
