Why not an entire series on Ember?... this screencast is to the point, focused and better than any one out here on web.

+arpit shah Thanks! :D I have more screencasts on Ember planned. I was waiting for 2.0 to release and now that it has I can make more without them getting dated too quickly.

+Kyle Robinson Young Awesome! Ember needs some nice screencasts. It's such an epic framework, but has only started becoming feature stable recently.

Hey. I like your style. You first implemented all of the logic in the controller and moved it down to the component. That really helped me understand the ember way of thinking.

Thanks Kyle. After watching some videos I realised you had one and it was the only one that clearly and briefly introduced Ember to us. As usual, great videos, great tutor...

Short and sweet, although a more detailed version would be nice. Hours of googling and trying courses/videos I've found and this is the only modern/outdated one that did it right and was straight to the point. Beary good video as always.

Two questions : 1. Are bears taking over ? 2. Would you be open to go over some common JS design patterns ? Thanks for all the hard work, energy and passion you put into those videos, they really help a lot. I keep them as a reference as I am on a journey to further my knowledge of Javascript. It's really handy to just be able to go back to them when I need a refresher on a concept ^^ Keep it up Kyle :)

@kylerobinsonyoung9 жыл бұрын
+krishna yallapanthula It will not. You'll need to send an ajax request to the server in order to persist the changes to the JSON.

Great Video !! Thanks for posting such an useful tutorial. I have a question in regards using Ember for web app configurations. I need to build a webapp with Screens configured. For e.g. when admin logs in, he gets to see a set of screens and when normal user logs in, he gets restricted set of screens and each screen would be configured based on client. Whats your thought on using Ember for such a use case and does ember support reusability of views for such scenarios? Appreciate if you could throw some light on this.
@kylerobinsonyoung7 жыл бұрын
Yes you can add routes for the admin and check if the user is an admin in the model hook. Build all your views as components then it will be easy to select a set of components to show on admin routes vs user routes.

hi sorry have you install ember 2.0.0 ? do you have a tutorial about it i wait for your help thanks
@kylerobinsonyoung9 жыл бұрын
+daniel nuñez Yep! I tried to focus on concepts that will be applicable for both Ember 1.13 and >= 2.0. The biggest change is the deprecation of Ember.View in Ember 1.x. So as long as you Ember.Component all the things, you should be safe in 2.0.

If the model lives in the routes, why do we have a models folder?
@kylerobinsonyoung8 жыл бұрын
+dnavas The route interfaces with the model. Model meaning: source of data. Such as retrieving data from a remote server or saving some data after an action occurs. The routes job is only to take a request (url, query params, etc), grab data (from a model, ajax request, or some other source) and pass along to the components/views to parse and render. Using models to represent your persistent data is optional. The benefit of using models is it provides a common and optimized interface to the persistent data as opposed to putting AJAX calls all over your routes. You define what the data looks like in your models then interact with the model in your route. Those definitions would live in the models folder.
