엠블랙(MBLAQ) 'Music Boys Live in Absolute Quality', 절대적 자질의 노래 부르는 소년들이란 이름으로 2009년 10월 15일 데뷔했다.
데뷔 1년 2개월 만에 정규 1집을 발매하는 엠블랙, 역시 다른 아이돌 보다 한발 앞서가는 그룹이다.
보통 아이돌과는 차별화된 엠블랙만의 음악적인 색깔 그러나 또 다른 음악으로 한층 업그레이드 된 보컬실력으로 마음껏 뽑냈다.
정규 1집인 만큼 특별한 것을 많이 찾아볼 수 있다.
첫째, 5m가 넘는 특수 제작된 세트에서 영하의 날씨에 불구하고, 다섯 멤버가 수중 촬영을 감행. 몽환적인 분위기로 예능에서의 장난스런 모습은 찾아 볼 수 없을 만큼 성숙한 영상미를 표현.
둘째, 엠블랙 멤버들의 직접 작곡, 작사에 참여해 한껏 실력으로 뽑냈다. 리더 승호는 'Sad Memories' 인트로를 직접 작곡뿐 아니라, 피아노까지 연주해 실력을 발휘, 팬들 사이에서 양쇼팽으로 불리는 만큼 이번 앨범에서도 확인 할 수 있다. 막내 미르는 'You're my +' 팬송을 통해 팬들에게 직접 전하는 메시지를 랩으로 작사. 데뷔 초와 지금까지의 순수한 마음을 그대로 확인 할 수 있다. 정규인 만큼 팬들에게도 큰 선물을 주고 싶다는 멤버들의 의견들을 모아 팬송 수록.
셋째, 엠블랙의 첫 번째 정규 1집을 위해 마이더스의 손들이 뭉쳤다. 실력파 작곡가들 대거 참여. 요즘 소녀시대의 'GEE'를 작곡한 E-TRIBE와 비의 '힙송', 엠블랙의 'Y' 등을 작곡한 배진렬, 비스트의 '숨'을 만들어낸 '라도', 기대되는 신예작곡가 지인,원택 등이 참여해 엠블랙의 작품에 대한 각별한 애정을 표현했다.
넷째, 홍원기 감독이 뮤직비디오의 메가폰을 잡아, 피해갈 수 없는 엠블랙의 매력을 한껏 멋스러운 영상미로 표현해 냈다.
이렇게 해서 2011년 1월 10일, 온,오프라인을 통해 엠블랙의 첫 번째 정규1집 'BLAQ Style'이 탄생된다.

I really love this. I wish K-Pop was still like this. You know, futuristic looking rooms, hairstyles that defy gravity, awesome costumes with lots of shininess and lots of eyeliner. Now, K-Pop looks a lot like American music videos plus dancing.

What I don't like about KPop now is that almost every formula of different groups are almost similar to one another.. From the over exaggerated dance moves to heavy makeup all the time, back then.. KPop felt really different, we used to see idols like 2PM, MBLAQ, TVXQ and etc.. that had that manly feel to them, now every group has to feel exaggerated just to show something, it just doesn't come out naturally anymore.. I'm not saying I hate KPop now but it just seems too manufactured at this point.

This song is 10 years old but it makes me believe that it could have been a hit if it was released today. I've just discovered it and I can't stop listening to it. This WAS a hit. Mblaq was criminally underrated though due to their label being small but they still made the rounds with all the big players. You have to understand these guys debuted at a time that kpop had HUGE players around. They still kept up though.

This was my song when it was out, I have been into Anime/Manga and KPop since 12 and I’m 31! 😂 It’s just not the same. If you haven’t checked out 2NE1 or Crystal Kay they are some great artist that had or have been out for 10 + years and underrated sometimes. I love BoA as well she’s still holding on despite the change in K-pop!

2022 anybody? I always go back to one of the best kpop boy groups I've listened to as a kid. MBLAQ always topped the charts. It was sad to see them go their separate ways into acting and singing but I'll never forget the mark in kpop they've made as a group!

Popular music is different now, of course, as music evolves like everything else. Before it used to be much more 'pop'-like, and now it leans more towards hiphop/dubstep/trap.
