Emblem Team Basics (Horse, Flier, & Armor Teams) - Fire Emblem Heroes Guide

This video has given me some trouble and the holidays sort of halted production for a while. However, I'm happy with how things have worked out and the next part is a continuation that I decided should be its own video. Regarding Dragon teams, I guess Intelligent Systems either abandoned the idea or are holding off on it for Year 2 and beyond. Ninian came with Fortify Dragons, but she was released so long ago and I don't think another Dragon has been introduced since. After the refinery changes I really don't want to have to deal with a Hone Dragons or Goad/Ward Dragons skill.

I think Hone/Goad/Ward Dragons are gonna be on potential Tellius Dragons, since we have yet to get those units in the game, and considering the lore surrounding them, it makes sense. I just really want Nasir in the game, lol

Especially after the wake of some rather OP Armor skills? You've said it yourself - there's more anti-dragon characters than actual dragons themselves! Does it hurt that much that they're no longer pushovers as they were before, especially compared to horses and armors? Even fliers are less neglected than them.

The last dragon we've gotten in the game was Ninian... back in MARCH of 2017. It's been nearly a full year since our last dragon. I want a new dragon, I'll take anything at this point. Nils, Nah, Kana... I'll even take a legendary hero that's a dragon at this point!

Yeah true... but there's a Tempest Trials coming out that will give us tons of orbs!!!! WOOOOO!! Also, yeah I'll probably inherit it onto her but I'm not sure if/when I'll use it. I'll probably use Lightning whenever I take switch up my team away from my two Flier Emblem staples (Gronnblade Camilla and Blarblade Corrin, two absolute nukes, especially next to my NY!Azura from a free summon AND a Hinoka who's +2 purely from F2P luck summons. The first two literally back to back when the game first came out, and a third on my free summon on the flier boosts banner.) What I'm thinking: Myrrh, NY!Camilla, Valter maybe?, and Summer Corrin.

Hm... that's true.... In any case, try giving Myrrh Lightning Breath+... and alternate between the two weapons - just in case of situations where one weapon may be better than the other. The same goes for alternating C slot and B slot skills. It's best to be prepared for anything at this point.

Never got lucky with pulling top tier horses but I always seemed to get the good Fliers, so a few months back I decided to commit to making a Flier Emblem team. These gals quickly became my favorite overall team. So much fun to use. My Sky Waifus consist of S!Corrin, Minvera, H!Nowi & Hinoka.

Hinoka has natural Hone Fliers and runs a Death Blow set extremely well, hitting 52 ATK with a Brave Lance and +ATK. She ends up running a Brave Lance Death Blow set just as well as Cordelia.

No merge potential with Hinoka meaning less points in arena, which is huge especially for people in tier 20. Most people do like to go +atk with Hinoka, but with brave lance that puts her at 27 speed before and 33 speed after buffs. That still puts her in range of getting double by a lot of units. With Cordelia you hit 33 before and 39 after buffs and that's without any merges. At about +5 merges you can hit 41 speed with merges meaning you quad hit almost every unit in the game. Quad hitting with 55 is better than doubling with 58. There's only one instance I've come across where Hinoka in theory would be better and that's vs. Winter Tharja without buffs, but that's only in theory; there will never be a time where she won't have buffs.

Fliers greatest strength is it's beastly mages that can do hit and run nuking with reposition. Unlike horses, they don't suffer from bst loss, and have the same power as infantry, but they can get much stronger buffs, meaning a bladetome flyer can easily ohko even high 40+ enemies in tempest trial and the like. They also even have their own dancer now, for even more supreme mobility. Sadly, this does mean that all their best units are seasonal banner locked.

156 to 158 is the normal non boosted base stat total for both infantry and fliers. There are just more boosted BST on the infantry units than on the fliers. Fliers just don't get a BST panalty like cavalry does. That's what the OP was refering to.

On open arena maps Flier teams with a bladetome user are ridiculously scary. Especially the maps where the teams are on the sides of the screen instead of top or bottom. If you don't have the right units or get in a good position, the flier team can just run you down.

With Airzura, my Flier Emblem team is complete. I run her, Elincia, Cordelia, and Cherche, and with a Brave Lance, DB3, the Heavy Blade seal, and Galeforce, Cordelia has become one of the most fun units in the game.

Meanwhile, my -Atk +Spd Brave Roy has 56 Atk, and with Blazing Durandal and Galeforce, he can pretty much sweep maps even without hone cavalry buffs. Then you add that in, and he's the destroyer of worlds. 62 Atk and 48 Spd with hone cavalry and no summoner support.

One advantage for armour emblem i'd like to point out is ward buffs. Since armoured units have one movement, they'll likely be huddled together a lot and get +12 to their already high defenses (14 with ally support), making them nearly unkillable if you pair this with skills like guard or wary fighter.

Honestly in my opinion armour emblem is the strongest team. I thought up a team consisting of C!Lissa, C!Tharja, Zephiel and Gwendolyn. It's ridiculous how good they are as mixed tanks.

I actually have an "Infantry" Emblem team in the form of Marisa, Fjorm, Soren, and Summer Gaius. The main crux of the team is Infantry Pulse, which allows for all of the units to use their specials earlier. What other units would you suggest for such a team that could benefit everyone?

Flier emblem seems to be the best In my opinion. They have similar bst to infantry (only slightly lower). They have flier buffs and units like summer corrin or H nowi are amazing with high speed and attack. With blade tomes... they do amazing with glimmer. My main units of my team Are flyzura and Summer corrin. (Flyzura has hone fliers, +6 speed and attack, she has earth dance, + 5 def, and hone res +4 res. This makes a blade tome user have 27 extra attack. Seriously, this is no joke. Blade tome fliers can easily be paired with Flyzura for amazing potential. This is just two units together, now the other two units can be H nowi, Elincia, Cordelia, Tana, Cherche, Beruka, or Minerva. Depending on what You need... these units will be able to support. Flyzura uses an Axe.. but if you want to give her extra support... you can have another axe unit. Mostly, if you have Summer corrin, Another axe unit won’t really be needed because corrin can kill blue units most of the time. Having strong Red units would be the best effort. Elincia can quad and kill most axe units and destroy most green mages. Fliers have amazing potential and so far flyzura has made flier emblem a true reality.

No, they aren't. Dragonstones are weapons, and all current dragon units are classified as infantry units. I wish dragons were classified as a movement type... then my dragon units could fight poison dagger much more easily.

I have a +Atk -Spd Reinhardt with Dire Thunder (44atk) +Death Blow 3 + a Hone Calv. Assistance does 56 x2(112) damage.. I have a quickened pulse on his Moonbow also so it's much more than that if you got hit in the first turn 😂.. +Spd Brave Lyn+1(+Atk3 seal); Camus +3(QR 2 seal) + Xander+3(dist.def 3 seal) both with Fury3/Vantage3 combo.. Ally support on S for all 4. It's comical how well I perform in Arena with these units. I put my horse emblem team purposely as my defense team with Lyn as main to make everyone think my team is Nooby to ruin ppls mood. Sorry if you were one of my victims (Tier20) 😂

Dragons were already pretty strong after the Lightning Breath refinement upgrades came out during Update 2.0. The adaptive damage effect combined with Steady Breath + Quick Riposte builds were starting to catch on in popularity and by themselves they were good units for any team especially since they can counter Brave Lyn. After this video came out that's when we started getting the 2nd generation of dragons such as Myrrh, Grima, the Kanas, etc. They also introduced the rest of the dragon emblem team buffs, so running 4 dragons together could be pretty scary. It's absolutely disgusting when you give Lightning Breath dragons like A!Tiki or Nowi +6 to all stats.

Again I hope you don't think I'm laughing at you or anything. I actually really like your channel. I also run a dragon team with full buffs. M!Grima: Ward Nowi: Fortify F!Grima: Ward (I know what I did, and I never looked back) A!Tiki: Goad I love using Dragons, and I don't use the copy paste set of Steady breath, QR either. At first it was because I didn't have the resources to put such expensive skills on them, but I ended up making them more synergistic in my opinion, since SB/QR builds are kinda lone wolf builds that focus on enemy phase. My team is more mixed phase builds, if you don't see it coming expecting a cookie cutter team, you'll regret it.

Yeah I understand you're just commenting on the situation that unfolded, no need to worry. Personally, I think the dragons that are speedy are way more scary since depending on my own team I might not be running a unit who can easily bait them with Quick Riposte or even if I am if that dragon doubles and my unit doesn't have a great Res stat, then they might just outright die. Male Grima can just run Steady Breath + Bold Fighter + Quick Riposte to be an absolute nightmare, but the newer dragons like Summer Y!Tiki, Female Grima, or the Kanas who are already fast are just as annoying if built with some extra speed. I think the popular Steady Breath + Quick Riposte + Aether set is just incredibly power in the hands of the player, but they obviously have their flaws when the enemy AI uses them. For defense teams you are much better off using builds that are able to do both phases well. It's a shame that Defense wins are such a simple mechanic for Arena because there are absolutely builds that suit the enemy AI much better. Currently, most of the time its just you bait their Enemy Phase units with your Enemy Phase units and its an easy win.

And also there is the Dragon Emblem variation that if Hone Dragons ever gets released will just be on a league of it's own. And if a flying, mounted, or even armored manakete ever gets released...

Infantry emblem doesn't really have support other than infantry pulse, and dragon emblem only has fortify dragons. As teams they don't have much going for them, only as individual characters.

When it comes to team-building, what is the thing discussed here rather than 'what you can make work', synergy is what matters. Infantry and dragons have next to nothing in that regard. Flier emblem is probably the hardest to build. I have two, but I need two Caedas to finish the builds. I was very lucky in finding Summer Corrin, Hinoka for Hone fliers and Flyzura, other than New year Camilla. Their boosting skills are very hard to find, unfortunately; Hone Fliers is 5* locked Goad is foundable on Palla, but you may use her for Moonbow Fortify fliers is on Caeda, who is pretty rare Ward is 5* locked

I think Cavalry team is the most expensive team because Goad Cavalry is only on Camus and 5* Reinhardt and lack of choices from Axes (Only three) and mages (I choosed Leo because the only other unit I would use was Olwen and I dont have her). But at least they have Ward Cavalry with Eliwood. Different from Fliers that have Goads with easy acess and Ward is hard to get. For me Fliers are the best type of unit with the best mobility in the game (Horses may have 3 mov but because of the trees they became the second worst mov type) and if you get Spring Camilla or Summer Corrin you only need to place an Owl Tome with Iote's Shield and a team full of Goads and you are good to go in general :P Is cool to use Ally Support to pump the power of Owl Tomes. I am tempting to make a second flier team with Spring Camilla, Yukata Camilla and trying to get Yukata Azura (But I will need change that Hone Fliers with Goad Fliers) and maybe Catria on this team too :P (But I may want Tana because of her lance). Btw, yes, Spring Camilla and Summer Corrin best build is an Owl Tome build because Owl Tomes can be used both off and def and having +20 Atk/Spd and +8 Def/Res is no joke XD And with you have Elincia (Or other Flier) with Flier Formation will helps even more :P This is why I see Cavalry as expensive with you are looking for the offensive buff. (As my experience with an Owl Corrin, Ward Fliers may not be so important but is cool to have)

... what? Why are you running Goads and Wards on a cavalry team? And how are Leo and Olwen your only mage options? Reinhardt, Cecilia, and Gunnthra are all stupidly amazing. And the former 2 aren't even rare. Hone and Fortify are the go-to cavalry buffs, and they're available on extremely cheap units and synergize well with the offensive blade tome users. And cavalry is absolutely the best movement type in the game. Very few relevant maps feature problematic trees, and even when they do it's a minor inconvenience at best. You could make an argument for flier movement being better, but horses blow infantry and armor movement out of the water. Furthermore, defensive flier emblem is far from optimal. Very few fliers have the stats to pull off a good defensive build, since they have infantry BST and have to waste an extremely valuable skill slot on Iote's Shield. Even most armors struggle to tank the current OHKO meta, and armors have ~11 more BST than fliers and access to the insanely powerful Fighter skills. Fliers usually specialize in hyper-offense, with melee fliers opting mostly for brave/firesweep weapons and mage fliers nuking with blade tomes. Their ability to hit and retreat with skills like Hit & Run over any terrain makes these offensive builds really effective. Furthermore, min-maxing all your stats into Atk/Spd for a nuke build doesn't require as much BST as having balanced mixed defenses as well as high HP and still having solid Atk like the defensive armors.

+Evello37 Two reasons: Dual Rally and Panic effects. Dual Rally are 150 extra sp, which means more arena points (cavalry needs anything they can get for arena points). Panic shouldn't need to be explained, cavalry have lower bst so generally lower hp. The main advantage of hone and fortify is found when using mages because of the sheer bonus it gives, but otherwise there are other viable options.

How can horse emblem be more expensive if literally all of the flier mages are locked behind seasonal banners and hone fliers locked in the 5* pool forever. Also, new players can start the game choosing one of the CYL heroes to get for free, so they can already pick one notable unit for horse emblem in the form of Brave Roy or Brave Lyn. Then you have things like Reinhardt, Cecilia, Frederick, Hone Cavalry and Fortify Cavalry all in the 3* and 4* pool and a lot of f2p horses like Camus, Berkut, Xander, Ursula, etc. I think that your impression of horse emblem being more expensive its because you run a lot of goads with your fliers teams, and goad cavalry is locked in the form of Camus (limited unit) and 5* Reinhardt as you said. However, goad is not really mandatory nor optimal for horse teams as it's not that easy to stick the units glued like in a flier team due to movement restrictions already pointed in the video. Also, having mages being actually acessible for horse teams makes hone/fortify more atractive for blade tome builds and its usually more powerfull for brave effect weapons like Dire Thunder.

No, the reason I dont run any Field buff (On C and Assist Slots) because they are bad. Combat buffs, specially the two spaces, gave more freedom of playing, and is easy to use. And Blade Tomes are overrated I dislike them. About Rein and Celica, I dislike both because for me Rein is weak and Celica gave me a bit of fear/disconfort because of her art-style. And, no, Fliers can be very strong deffensively like Cherche, Tana, Camillas and even Corrin with Owl Tome. Like I said, Goads and Wards give more freedom and the ability to stack is good. And not being stopped by Panic or any nullify buff effect like D. Naga. And Hit n' Run/Drag Back are bad skills like Firesweep weapons. For example Cordelia can use forged Slaying Lance with Desperation and Cherche (Without QR) can run WoM or Flier Formantion. Still think that Cavalry is expensive because Hones and Fortifies are not viable because the units may became "slaves" and if you end your turn away you losted the buff for that turn, but this not happen with Combat buffs. And yes if you end your turn like: "HFH" or anything like that will be a lost of buff. Again this not happen with Combat buffs. And if you see a Summer Corrin tanking and ORKO Brave Lyns in enemy phase with Owl Tome + Iote's Shield you may not have eyes for any other Inheritable Tome. And > Cavalry have poor mov because of trees and not talking about arena because the amount of Choked Indoors maps ("Nah's stage" in Arena is not choked for example) x Maps with a good amount of trees is a huge difference.
