But we’ve also got to appreciate that the world has moved on. For example even if you brought back those theatres in all districts, producing material to maintain them to run on a daily basis would be hard. Back then people went to theatres because there was not a variety of other sources of entertainment. These days you have bivulu for singers, KZbin, TikTok, etc. My parents went to those theatres every weekend to watch bakayimbira etc but how many stage acting groups exist now to perform every weekend or week? There used to be school drama competitions now I doubt any schools even have a drama club as they’re all after money with parents who won’t even encourage their kids to do things like sports mbu it’s wasting their money. These days you have acting groups that will show their material on tv and reproduce the same on KZbin so you’d be hard pressed to have people come to these theatres to watch something they can watch elsewhere. Then entertainment is also clogged with so much controversy that it’s politicised and anyone with something to say calls themselves an artist, where in the past we had writers and performers who were actually educated and civilised, MDD or Literature graduates so quality was good. There’s a lot that’s changed and we need to think about that before we think about restoring things from the 80s.

@@ruthevans1731 I’m in a first world country but I don’t know anyone working more than 12 hours a day. Unless they’re doing a ‘live-in’ care job. Actually working lots of hours means you’re paying lots in taxes so it becomes pointless.
