Just wanted to thank you for the time and patience you took to share this information. I went looking for help when I experienced embossing paste leaking under my stencil while trying to create black stripes. Your video was very helpful and I learned something. Thanks so much!

Just seeing this for the first time now and reading comments. I'm sorry that a lot of people have been nasty or rude to you in the comments. So many people are just know it all's. It takes guts to make a video and put yourself out there like this. I hope their comments didn't discourage you. Thanks for sharing, I just recently purchased this embossing paste and am getting ready to try it out.

Thanks so much but it's really ok...it happens more than you know when you post videos on YT. I was a beginner at the time and a lot of the comments have come months and years after I posted this...so again, not a big deal. Hope you're enjoying the paste yourself!
@ShazShazsilverwolfBrooks9 жыл бұрын
very nice, but despite what is said in the video, don't ever leave the stencil on place while it dries. you'll never get the paste off,especially on such a delicate stencil.Also, if you remove the stencil before you sprinkle the glitter, you won't waste so much.
@AKCaraboo9 жыл бұрын
Shaz Brooks Thanks for the input...this video was done a few years ago so I don't recall exactly what I said but I definitely agree...I wouldn't leave the stencil in place either. Have a great night!

***** Hi there, I'm so pleased you weren't offended! The trouble with so many craft products is that advice can change from time to time-I remember TH at first said it made no difference whether his markers were stored vertical or horizontal, then changed it a few months later, when vertical stored markers were drying out. The card was beautiful, I loved the technique, I now need to buy some Crackle paste! :)

I really like how it looked in thé end. I would suggest to put the glitter on after peeling off the stencil. You can reuse the paste from the stencil this way

Yep…thought of that the next time I used it…but thanks!

I use stencils all the time, so was surprised to discover there is a product I had never heard of before. I was knocked out at how gorgeous the embossing paste is, particularly when you added glitter. Until I am able to find some, I think I am going to try your glitter technique with some modeling paste. It won't be translucent, but hopefully it will still be pretty. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video! (I also loved your response to the "awm" comment. :) You did just fine.)

I couldn't see the date for this vide but by now you know you wanted to remove your stencil first before glittering. Dream Weaver has excellent videos for using their embossing pastes. Techniques, tools, etc. I took their class taught by Dream Weaver. Black is fab with powdered pigments AFTER it's dry.

if you us a credit card or plastic card you can scrape off the paste much easier

Beautiful card. I've used dreamweaver pastes before, & they are all fab. they do a metal stencil called "bare trees" which is very similar to yours, but being metal you can scrape it off a lot easier. It's pretty easy to get here in the uk, I got mine from "handy hippo" not sure about the states. I can't wait to see your other posts to see what you've done with the pastes, I've only used it with stencils so far. Thank you for sharing :) x

I like how the snow flakes came out ... all of them. But what I was thinking is you could have put a little bit of the paste on the side and add the glitter to it and then spread it on the stencil. that way you control how much you want to use. Or of course like I saw posted already, lift the stencil and then add the glitter. As long as it is wet, you can get it to stick. Again... the snow flakes looked so purty... the tree looks like it will be nice too.

Cara, thanks for sharing this awesome technique. I remember that there was a product from Aleenes that was similar. You could use it on your walls and could sand it. Just a thought. I love the blue snowflakes card. Awesome, Becky

I love the branches stencil , but how do you stop the paste from leaking under the stencil? As careful as I try to be, I lift the stencil and there are blobs all over .
@AKCaraboo10 жыл бұрын
Honestly, you have to be very careful. Now I try to tape them down as much as possible and when I can use my fingers to hold the stencil in place. And I go very slowly when the stencil is detailed to avoid moving it. Hope that helps!
@eveny1199 жыл бұрын
If you use sturdy paper or seal the paper you can spray your stencil with basting spray ( which is repositionable spray glue used in quilting) I use on gessoed canvas and wood with no problem

O-M-G….that is just the coolest technique I've seen in a while!!! I'm not a card maker, I am into mixed media art, but I can not wait to try this in my art journal or on a canvas, or a tag, or an ATC, the possibilities are endless. Thank you for sharing. This was awesome!! Everything you showed was amazing, but I especially loved the card with the blue micro bead snowflakes. Please add me to your Christmas card list for next Christams….LOL. Hoping you are well. (((HUGS)))) Kimmie (P.S. I hope I can find this paste. Oh BTW..I have that same metal utensil in my drawer too, now I know what to use it for)

+Maryellen Norman Sorry about the late response. I have never actually mailed this type of card so I'm not really sure how they would hold up but I think it would be ok. Its adhered to the paper pretty well and you could always put it in a padded envelope. Hope that helps!

I think maybe the problem with your butter knife is that you have no really flat surface. I use an old credit card or actual icing spreader (flat edges). Just sayin'!! Great video. So cool to see someone with a video on crafting from Alaska. I live in Palmer...whoo hoo!!

Where did you get the tree branch stencil?
@Zac400ex11 жыл бұрын
Since you don't have to heat it, clear gell would work the same. It would be cheaper in comparison to. You can buy Golden gell at the big box stores in a larger container and use a 40 or 50% off coupon. It will work the same with stencils. I will give it a try with the glitter. Thanks for sharing.
@AKCaraboo11 жыл бұрын
I also saw a video recently (think it was Jennifer McGuire) who put some embossing powder on top of the paste. Once the paste dried she heated the powder…it was very pretty!
@YayMe1st8 жыл бұрын
This is beautiful, but I agree that you should put the glitter on after remiving the stencil so as not to waste as much & you should also use washi tape instead of whatever that tape was.

OM FREAKING GAWD!!! This is just too funny! Go back to your video and turn on the closed caption directly below it. I was just curious and I turned on CC for the very first time in my years of using KZbin! When you read it you'll be laughing so hard you'll actually cry or pee your pants! It's THAT funny! It says you're using paper training paper! LOL That must mean you've got a puppy somewhere with that chirping bird in the background I take it? Kidding of course. LOL

If you use the proper scraper made by the paste manufacturers, you will not use anywhere near as much paste as you use and it won't waste as much! Also, remove the stencil first and then sprinkle the glitter, again to minimise waste!
