Hi, the paints stay great for years. I trash pick canvases and use odd paints as a base layer for my mixed media art. I also use odd paint so I can use all sorts of things( old book covers, old kids' toys) as bases for art projects. Tina, Al's wife

Embossing is challenging for me also! I recently bought a new heat gun and it works much better than my old one. But I think it’s one of those things that you just need to practice. I read the comments and noted all the suggestions!

In case no one has mentioned yet. you can actually cut leather with your Big Shot. The best dies to use are the thick dies, but some thin dies will work too.

If you have trouble with embossing powder melting try making a board using a piece of corrugated cardboard covered with aluminum foil. Place your paper on top of that to help heat your paper more evenly. Also, preheat your heat tool before trying to emboss. Take your time and watch the powder melt. The flocking is not something you heat. We used to have a glue typer stamp pad we used that with, but you could stamp an image then go over it with a fine line of glue then sprinkle on the flock and tap off like you would excess embossing powder and let it sit to dry. Hope that helps!

Also, for embossing sentiments, you should use Fine Detail embossing powders rather than "regular" embossing powders, as they catch the intricate details of script/fonts much better...😉

Hi Stephanie! Wow, what a ton of paint, powders and leather stuff! Hey there Bob! I am like you, I don't get into embossing powders much either. I just use glitter pens, glitter markers, etc. You are getting some muscles there from all the heavy lifting! LOL!

Use ultra fine embossing powder with sentiments, it works much better. Are you using anti static powder before embossing? Xx

My daughter would LOVE adding some embossing powder to ones she doesn't have! Plus, she wants to start working with leather. I put my foot down on that because of the sharp tools! Too bad we don't live in FL 😢 i would purchase some. Give my daughter something to be happy about as she is currently in the ICU fighting septic shock & respiratory failure as well as a cancer fighter for now 10 years 😢😢 The tool is called an awl! 😊❤
