Whimsy looks terrific. The shine on the freshly painted decks is fantastic! She moves well downwind in 6 knots of air.

You are kind not to show him....She looks good and fully recovered from the Bahama trip. Thanks for posting.

@@boatsail1 Well, I thought about it! But, in the end, leaving him out seemed to be the best way to share the story without escalating his animus further. He knows who he is. 😏

The drunk guy was just a little reminder that you are still alive and on planet earth. Paradise still awaits. But, you did come close.

Mr. Tom Scott, what rule of thumb do you have when lowering the center board, I have a 1971 morgan 30 here in oriental nc and will be sailing mainly on the neuse river, about 12 to 15 ft deep in the middle and 2 or 3 miles wide , didn't know how often you lower yours, if you have a centerboard, thanks

Hi Chuck, I use my board on nearly every outing. When sailing upwind, the board is fully down. If the wind is blowing hard, I may crank it back up one or two turns simply to angle the board aft and help reduce weather helm. Off the wind (beam reach, and below), the board is fully up. However, again, if it is blowing hard, I may actually lower it a crank or two to help move the center of lateral resistance aft and reduce helm pressure. More generally speaking, the board is fully down when going to windward. It is fully up when sailing off the wind, and it is otherwise tweaked (up or down) to aid in balance as desired when the wind is strong. If the water is shallow but I am not worried about hitting, and I want to go upwind, I will lower the board as far as I can without dragging. Alternatively, I may just leave it up and accept the side slip and heavy helm that results. If you feel you may hit bottom, I feel it is better to have the board angled aft (raised) a bit so that it will more freely roll back into the trunk. I worry that if it were straight down, it could push upward momentarily (riding over a wave) before it started to swing aft. If it did, I'd think it could break or deform the pin - or do other damage. The boat will sail "tolerably/ok" without using the board, but the helm will be heavy and pointing will be poor. The board dramatically improves her windward ability and balance off the wind, too. Your mileage may vary!
