Why did Jesus raise people from the dead if He expected them to die again? When I asked Him about immortality He responded by asking me to think eternal health rather than eternal life. So if we are perpetually healthy we won’t die (not from sickness or disease anyway). Good word Mike.

It’s because we’ve adopted a modality of evangelicalism that dangles people over hell. People reject that because of our elitist attitude.

I understand that we can take a stand for immortality being triumphant over death but don't see that any of the early church father's taught that as literal in defying death on this plane. That would seemingly be then living in this body as an immortal state--which is not the same as the body Jesus had as a resurrected body. It's great to imagine a healthly long life but that is different than immortality in this state vs. in a glorified body...therefore this seems rather confusing. IMO.
