I am a paper crafter and a newbie to machine embroidery... what I would also suggest is using Watercolour paper to stitch out the design and then to cut that out and stick to a standard card base. Works amazing and I've done that with a few DBJJ cardstock designs on a flatbed V3 :)

I’ve been making cards using embroidery for several years. I do not use only designs for cards, but I watch a stitch out in my software first. You can use just the outline of a filled design successfully. Thanks for great tips.

I’ve made some using good quality watercolour paper and then stuck it to the front of a card. Works lovely!

GREAT video! Thanks so much for sharing this! I just use a bone folder like what we sewers use to crease fabric. Works great on paper, too. I have made sewn greeting cards in the past, and just embroider on lightweight fabric and then stitch around the edge to attach it to the actual card stock, or use some type of spray glue.

Likewise, thank you for this tutorial. I've watched the portion of assigning needle bars to colors several times, have a 6 needle Brother and am terrified of trying to assign colors. You make everything so simple, you speak so clearly and have such a pleasant voice (and I love that you don't have a ton of hand movements). You're the genuine article! Blessings to you and yours.

Thank you Becky, I had only been looking at KZbin last night to find out how to do this on card stock. Someone suggested using the Scan N Cut to write a message/poem/Christmas greeting on the inside of the card and then just sign. I will be trying making my own cards in the future.

i love making embroidered greeting cards! I use cheap craft felt and watercolor paper. I trim the felt away after the frame outline, so the frame stitches over the edge, applique-style.

I love this idea as I am a former paper crafter. However, I found a few designs had too many stops and starts within each color. . I also stitched on a piece of card stock and then attached to the card front. I also liked the designs from OESD.

Thank you for the video! I’ve been wanting to try this and have been hesitant. My card turned out very nice in the end but it took a while to finish. The thread kept coming out of the needle at the beginning of the individual parts. I’d have to stop, rethread and start again. I used tear away stabilizer, OESD card paper and spay glue to adhere the paper to the stabilizer. Any idea why this might be happening? I’m using a Solaris machine. I also tried a different needle. Thank you!

Mine was doing the same thing after my husband was playing around on the machine and pressing buttons not knowing what he was doing. :) Check on your machine to make sure that the knot is tying properly at the beginning of the stitch. On my PR1055, there are two buttons side by side that look like .---- and ---. That's the knot at the beginning and the knot at the end. They have to be activated.
@lisahamann4046 Жыл бұрын
thank you for the great information! May I ask what frame you are using for your PR1055?

For paper, just give the weight, I.e., 80 lb, to properly describe it.
@PowerToolsWithThread2 жыл бұрын
I hesitate to say an exact weight because not everyone can get every weight and there's no specific weight that can only be used. 80 lb. works great but many also say 65 lb. works well. I've found a more generalized description works to accommodate most viewers unless a definite single item is truly best. Thanks for watching!
