I cannot tell you how happy I am to have found this video!!! I have been looking for a week for a video one hooping a vinyl bag. I did 2 or 3 several years ago and could not remember how I hooped them. I didn't have a Mighty Hoop then so your video is just perfect. Nice tote bag embroidery! I have been making tote bags using similar techniques for last many years. My experience is based on embird software and Melco bravo machine in the past and currently Happy hcd 3, 15 needle machine. I have a few suggestions for hooping and proper placement and alignment of the design. I am sure all different software and multi needle machine can accomplish same things that I would like to suggest. Turn the tote bags inside out. Get a piece of your favorite stabilizer slightly larger than the other ring of hoop. Spray just the edges of stabilizer piece with temporary adhesive spray and secure it to the back side. I prefer not put adhesive spray in the area of actual embroidery since some machine don’t like to sew through the layer of adhesive. Turn the bag right side out and smoothen surface to remove the wrinkles. Embird can print a template of the design with square/ rectangular box around with center points of each side marked. I am pretty sure other softwares can print the same way. Place template just like shown in the video. I prefer to tape the four corners. Place the outer ring of the hoop inside and square it as well as possible. LEAVE the template in place after putting the inner ring by wiggling the both rings of the hoop to get the template in the middle of the hoop. It doesn’t have to be perfectly centered. Important thing is that there is enough clearance on all sides where pressor foot won’t hit the hoop. ( of course in all likelihood the machine will not start if the design is too close to the edge in any direction!). Mount the hoop on the machine the usual way. The final step is to align the design that is loaded in the machine to the template that is still in the exact place where you have taped. I have no experience with Ricoma machine but I am positive that it has facility for two points laser alignment. The Happy machine that I currently have (so did the Melco Bravo) does two points alignment using two points on the template. You can use two points such as two upper or lower or two right or left or two vertical or horizontal midpoints. After the alignment is completed you can trace the design. It should trace precisely along the box around the design. Remove the template and start sewing! This kind of alignment by leaving the template in place takes away the guesswork and sews precisely where you intend and avoids multiple tracings and unnecessary wear and tear of the machine.
