This is a real EMDR session, not a mock representation. Thank you, Dr. Marich, for all you do

Thank you to the woman who was courageous enough to allow others to learn while she re-lived her early childhood trauma. My heart just breaks for all children who are abused (or tortured, as in this case). Little ones deserve so much better.

This woman is a hero for sharing her experience so boldly. I hope she has found peace and healing. She deserves only the best.

The Real Time EMDR helps me understand the process better because I have only begun. I did something similar before.

As a potential new client for an EMDR therapist for complex trauma...wow. Totally freaking out! This seems scary/traumatic. Tell me it gets better.

Carrie Thomas She’s dealing with it in a therapeutic setting so it won’t affect her in her daily life anymore. This may have been uncomfortable but very cathartic for the woman.

I watched to see if I was normal, thank you I now see how I reacted was normal. I think I disassociate fairly quickly though. I understand the process now so I will try hard not to. I wish my therapist had explained that. After about three times watching her fingers I start thinking about her fingers or anything else besides the experience. Is that ok too though? Once I stop thinking of the bad I’m done. My thoughts are always I’m ok, still ok, still ok. Maybe it just worked quickly?

So I learned that dissociation will tell you youre okay and block you from going to earlier memories. But if your memory was as early or bad as you remember and you report a 0 or 1 then it might be gone.

I was wondering if the safe place imagery for the client was changed in any way by the difficult processing done while in her safe place. If not, it would seem to me that safe place could be brought in as a tool more often while they are processing. I would have been afraid that if it became associated with negative, the safe place would cease to be safe. It appears this was not the case.

Hello Dr. Marich, I have been watching your videos since I got trained last year and now with the corona virus I will start using the tappers and audio. Thank you! How do you determine how much time to allow the audio to go on for the bilateral stimulation. I usually tap clients' knees for about 30-40 seconds. It seems though you leave the audio for longer in between sets. I'd appreciate your response.

Hi! Anyone knows if the client has to remember the same image again and again during the desensibilization part? Thanks a lot!

I am an emdr patient but I do the tapping process. I dont understand what the headphones are doing. Can someone explain?
@tinaavantis69003 жыл бұрын
They give bilateral sound. One can use eye movement, tapping, sound or other bilateral stimuli.

EMDR typically uses eye-movement, but the patient has opted for a right to left audio sound instead.
@icandoit956 жыл бұрын
Often therapists will offer the client headphones that emit a tone through each earphone side to side, instead of the bilateral eye movement.
@criise14 жыл бұрын
The sound bounces from ear to ear so the eye movement is involuntary as the brain traces the sound. I did EMDR this way and liked it much better than trying to focus on hand movement.
@kaleimaile3 жыл бұрын
You can use a variety of methods to do EMDR. Some ppl can’t do the eye movements, so they will do tapping on the knees, butterfly taps, tones from the earphones, foot taps or hand buzzers.

Please, check your answer again. The way that you are portraiting EMDR is from an ignorant, not an educated person.
