My question is how did Emeka know whether that voice was from the Lord or his own voice in his head? And also does he believe the Canon of Scripture is closed?

Romans 8:15 tells us that the Spirit of God bears witness with our spirit. Jesus said that his sheep would hear his voice! And Paul told us to be led by the spirit. The peace of God is to act as an umpire in our hearts settling with finality all questions that arise in our minds. See Colossians 3:15 in the amplified.

@timothymorbitzer1655 when Jesus said "My sheep hear my voice" He was comparing and contrasting the sheep from the goats/wolves and it means that His elect will hear and follow Him. Not that they would hear some thoughts in their mind claim they are His and follow Him but His actual Words He spoke and that were given by divine revelation through the prophets and apostles who laid the foundation of the Church. Revelation outside of scripture ceased when the apostles ceased. After Revelation was complete the canon of scripture was closed and we have all we need. When the Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit we cry ABBA Father that's how we know that we have come to know God as Father which is a privilege only given to His children. The unbeliever does not know God as Father. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. There is no need for any "words" outside of scripture. Peter heard the voice of God and said that the Word of God is a more confirmed Word. 2 Peter 1:16-21 Christ’s Glory and the Prophetic Word For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,” we ourselves heard this very voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain. And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. "No prophesy was produced by the will of man" My question would be to anyone who claims "God told me" anything outside the Bible, how do you know that that's not just your own will, the will of man? The most terrifying thing would be in the end to say you prophesied in Jesus name but He never knew you.. (Matthew 7:21-23) Woe to anyone who would put words in God's mouth that He never said... Read Jeremiah 23 and hear what a true prophet of God says about people who do this. Hope this was received in love. Praying that the Word of God would be read and heard clearly.
