As someone who experienced Narcissistic abuse and has researched about this disorder for years, i would like to say that Narc abuse and Domestic violence are not the same. this situation sounds very much like narcissistic abuse and not just domestic violence. It was during the interview that the son found out the types of abuse and the details of the split between the mother and the father. If a son feels his dad wasn't really there for him, he doesnt need his mother to manipulate him - he'll easily prefer to live without his dad. In fact, it was when i had my first son that i became more resolute about not involving my dad in my dealings because having my son made me to understand a fathers role which my father never played i my so, i don't my mother's influence to make a decision in this case.
