@@janel4347 I’ve had the best luck with planting them in October or November. Then you’ll need to keep them watered that following summer. It’s easy to just run a drip line with a timer.

WOW!! You sure have a lot of arborvitaes! They look great! Lots of work. How do you keep the grass out? I planted eight 3-foot arborvitaes in March. I dug eight separate holes instead of a trench, and now I have to mow and weed eat between each tree. I'm thinking about laying down fabric and mulching over the whole thing. What's your thought?

@@audijo6562 thanks for watching the video. I agree with putting something down on top of the grass to kill it. I’m not the biggest fan of the fabric because it doesn’t work as well as advertised. If you can get some cardboard to law down that would be cool too, or some of that brown “moving paper” that’s used to cover floors when construction is going on inside of a house. I’ve used that in one of my beds too. Totally agree with the mulch. Do that ASAP to protect the roots of the trees. Consider using double hammered hardwood mulch too. It’s EXCELLENT for plants and helping to improve the soil.

@@audijo6562 once I put the mulch down that kept most of the grass at bay.

Do you have a problem with deer if so how do you prevent them from eating the tress?
@BiggCope
@BiggCope 3 ай бұрын
@@CelenaHoward-d2t in the south the deer don’t eat them. They have a lot of other vegetation to eat throughout the year. This is a problem that people in cooler climates have.

Have you ever experienced a burning type look on any this year? Mine has a bronze and dark brown burning on the tips of some. Not sure how or if I can upload a photo of it on here.

Maybe it’s from the neem oil as well because I now recall spraying after hearing you say that about yours.

If they do come to full size, you are screwed,lol. Should be at least 3 to 4 feet apart.

They are 3 feet apart. So what are you saying?
@tilu3303
@tilu3303 6 ай бұрын
At 3 feet apart it'll take quite a while for them to even come together like a hedge. I don't see a "problem" like that for at least 10-20 years.
