In Sweden this kind of test is run once every three months, also at 3 pm (on the first Monday of the month), but through outdoor PA sirens rather than over the phone. The system and the tests date back to the early days of the Cold War, and people are well aware of it (it's always been known as "Hesa Fredrik", Hoarse Frederick) 😜 Contrary to what some people think, the meaning of the signal isn't a military "Air Raid Warning" but simply "IWarning: Important Message Coming!" and the message was supposed to come over the radio, but of course it denotes some sort of imminent danger.

Awww. Commiserations. I realised this morning that I left my phone overnight in my bag for the second or third night running….but still forgot to charge it. Which I realised round about 3:30.

@@elwolf8536 Jewish holiday starts by Sun down Friday when a Jewish person can’t use electronics, drive a car, and much more but to eat and sleep till Saturday sundown. It is so important for them that they installed storm alarm sirens and blast before 15 minutes sundown to let everyone know to run their homes asap 😊

The emergency warning isn't addressed to individuals. It's just sent out to devices on the network. Sooooo

I understand that both the US and UK have troops on the ground in UKR, which is a de facto declaration of war on Russia. Could it be the reason behind this 'emergency' alert?
@pallasathena1369 Жыл бұрын
I too thought that, it seems nuts for UK to have these types of alerts otherwise.

So once alerted, what do we all do, down tools & run for cover or are they letting us know we are about to die.
