The alert sound for Japan you showed us is actually used for warning people about earthquakes, (Earthquake Early Warning System) there’s something called the J-Alert and it’s used for BIG EMERGENCIES like missile threats, and trust me you’d shiver in your timbers if you heard that blaring outside.

Fun Fact: The three harsh tones you hear at the beginning of an EAS Alert are called S.A.M.E. (Specific Area Message Encoding) headers which contain the details of the alert, such as what the alert is for, what areas are affected, who/what issued the alert, when the alert expires, where the alert needs to be broadcasted, etc. If any EAS Enabled Equipment hear a SAME header, It'll trigger an alert. The long tone after is the attention tone, which is pretty self explanatory. Also, the reason the S.A.M.E. Tone is repeated three times at the beginning is to avoid potential errors during transmission that can be caused by poor reception.
@astridwasfound5334 Жыл бұрын
This is actually something people should know, if you play an alert sound on air or near EAS equipment it can and will trigger an actual alert to be sent out, fake or not. There’s fines for this stuff too, I’ve heard some fines are as big as 1 million dollars or more.

The Japan EAS Alarm in this video is specifically for Earthquakes only. It’s “calming” so that people don’t panic and also Earthquakes are common, happening almost monthly or every other month. The other disasters have their own alarms, also made by J-Alert, and the Civil Protection Alarms sound more like what you seem to imagine is an EAS Alarm. It’s WAY scarier. However, just imagine something. You’re sleeping in the middle of the night, it’s 2 in the morning, and you hear the Earthquake Warning on TV. Might not seem very scary, but this happens if there is a Level 5 or higher (Or if there is a long period of Level 3 expected). Personally for me, all countries do what they want with their alarms. Some of them can be pretty urgent such as the USA alarm (TAKE COVER) whilst other countries like Japan don’t make things too loud and alarming, as it could insure panic, which for all we know, could increase the death count (Okay, it’s a problem, but let’s not panic and we’ll follow procedures without problem). Of course, it doesn’t always help, but it’s something.

@Insincerities5 ай бұрын
I think the reason that Japan's earthquake alarm is so calm is because earthquakes are terrifying on their own, so they have a calm alarm so that the people of Japan are in the same state (of calm), which is ALSO why the tsunami alert is much scarier. Yes earthquakes are scary too, but tsunamis that follow after are a LOT scarier, in my opinion at least.

The Emergency Alert System has always fascinated me. When I was a kid I was horrified by it and now I'm both interested and also worried when it comes on. It grabs my attention and pulls me in like "damn whats goin on?" my interest in it got me into one of my favorite style of analog horror I still keep up with to this day which are EAS Scenarios. The shit ones are well, basic but some of them go into such specific detail and make them so realistic its so entertaining to just listen along for the ride. What a cinematic masterpiece. It was so emotional with all its plot twists. The creativity and emotions expressed in this film are just one of a kind. We really get to see, feel, hear, smell, and taste what the Director is thinking. It emphasises how much amazing, extraordinary work was put into this. Outstanding. Absolutely outstanding. I was tearing up, crying and needed to use 57 boxes of tissues and it was just beautiful. I can't wait for the producer to create more artistic masterpieces. All the planning, acting, just brilliant. I can't believe I've watched such a beautiful thing. It has cleansed my eyes. My mind. My body. My soul. This was just absolutely wonderful. Even Her Majesty the Queen has left such positive comments on this film. Can I even call it a film? It's more than just entertainment. This is more than just moving pictures. This. Is. ONE OF A KIND. I really can't stress it enough. I could ramble on longer than even Mr. Hippo can. It's just unbelievable how just one film can change the lives of millions of people around the world. Incredible. I would watch this every day if I could. I can free my schedule and make time to watch this EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Until the day I die.

For me, there's a very specific event in which one of these was used. There's a video on KZbin that you can find really easily, which shows the 2020 Australian bushfires and the radio EAS telling people where to go and how to survive. Some of the things she says sends chills down my spine; things like, "It is too late to leave... The extreme heat is likely to kill you well before the flames reach you...This fire is threatening homes and lives... You are in danger and need to act immediately in order to survive." I'm not even in Australia and it made me want to run and never stop. Absolutely chilling.

I got to confess. I made a school presentation about this for my final exam! It was called "False Alarms and Hacker incidents on live TV" It's pretty self explanatory, People accidentally setting off EAS alarms and Hacker hacking live TV. I got a 95 on it. My whole class like it because my presentations are super original, and not procrastinated. I can pull it up if ya wanna.

The Japanese EAS alarm only sounds whenever an earthquake or tsunami occurs, and since Japan is located on the Ring of Fire those such natural disasters are very common to happen. Since it constantly happens, the Japanese government didn’t want the people to get frightened every Tuesday night but instead remain calm and know that there is an earthquake (or tsunami) happening.
@yoylecake3138 ай бұрын
There’s another alert that Japan has, and I forgot the name of it, but it sounds horrifying if I’m not mistaken. It occurs whenever a serious situation is happening (i think) that doesn’t trigger the EAS alarm.

in poland we got a much simpler system of weather alerts and such: just send everyone a message on their phone. it's just a simple SMS that basically says: "warning, throughout [specific days] there will be [specific thing going on], we recommend doing [good things to do when that thing happens]"
@fealmar1 Жыл бұрын
In addition to the alerts that come on TV, There are also these little radios you can buy that can alert you for any situation. They are called "Weather Radios" and they are pretty cool. Literally when any alert comes by, the alert tones are decoded for your radio to tell which alert it is. They alert with a siren built in, so you can hear it anywhere in your home. Whether it's a tornado warning or Severe T'Storm Warning. I like them and still get impressed by their technology.

My confession: When I was very young, I was at a public pool for a school excursion. I could not find my clothes, so I walked out buck naked, hands on my hips and proclaimed “Has anyone seen my pants?” Apparently I had no fear of embarrassment as a child. It also started a kind of nudity trend with the boys, and we would all be completely fine with being naked I guess. Well that’s something I guess.

Confession: I’ve been thinking about math class a lot lately, and honestly, I think we’re all trying our best-but sometimes it feels like we’re just making things harder for ourselves. Our teacher gives us the lessons, the explanations, and the support we need, but it still feels like nothing is clicking. We do the practice problems, we ask questions, we study, but it’s like every time we think we’re getting it, there’s another twist that makes it harder to understand. It’s frustrating because we’re genuinely putting in the effort, but we’re still struggling. I don’t know if it’s the way the material is being taught or if it’s just the way we’re all processing it, but it feels like no matter how much we try, the roadblocks keep coming. I just wish it wasn’t this tough, especially when we’re all really doing our best.
