I called Verizon and was told it was too late to remove the update. I just bought the new 12 IPhone Max and was told that as soon as it was turned in...it was too late as well. In case this hasn't been posted yet. Conelrad is pronounced as Con-el-rad. Not Co-nel-rad. The Conelrad (Con-el-rad) system was used in America as I was growing up. I am very familiar with why the system was put together. Only two AM (medium wave) stations were assigned in each area to broadcast emergency information. The frequencies used were 640 and 1240 kilocycles (now called kiloHertz). If these frequencies were not used by the two stations on a regular basis they would switch to the one frequency assigned to them and then relay the emergency information.

Conelrad is still in use. The new system had to many problems so they went back with the old and true CONELRAD Emergency Broad Cast System which was tested not to long ago. It has been expended to allow the government to give out news and information vie text and voice messages over cell phones and all social media. It also requires all TV, Radio stations, and social media to stop all operations for an indefinite period of time. Directing audience and users to the official authorized government Emergency Alert Stations.
