Mono/EBV is what gave me a chronic illness at 16...Never recovered after that, so definitely rest and stop doing physical activities. Mono takes many weeks for symptoms to show, so she contracted it a month or more ago.

Please listen to your body with mono (we call it Pfeiffer in the Netherlands lol). You can get sick/extremely tired for a very long time (Months or years) and it is no joke. Rest a lot, don’t shake anything because it is reaaaally contagious and again, listen to your body, please! 2 days at home from school is interesting. You will have good days and bad days so you wouldn’t know what days you could go to school. I hope you are not gonna feel worse than this and you feel better soon!

Surgeons are the best of the best students man. 15+ years of school & training after high school. No life the entire time and work 5am-7pm at least. I hated my surgery rotation!

I know this video is old but I just wanted to comment and say how amazing it was to hear Katie talk about how she used to be afraid of throwing up. I have this phobia too and sometimes it can be hard to live life normally without anxiety. My throat was so terrible I couldn’t eat or drink for 2 weeks, I could barely open my mouth. I also had a boil. I lost 5 kg and was super dehydrated and in constant pain, I could hardly walk from the couch to the bathroom without almost passing out. In the end, I had to have my tonsils removed and the boil lanced.

I had mono a few years ago. It was the worst (and I had it for 3 months and didn't know it). I kept having false positive strep tests 5 times before being diagnosed correctly with mono. Try to stay away from dairy (as it'll make you cough more). And drink plenty of fluids. And SLEEP!!! Get well soon, Katie! Much love from Atlanta!
