Do you really think Rogers would go to a top 3 payroll for a decade to put a team around Soto or Ohtani. The Jays have had 5 top 10 payrolls in 25 years. Never once top 5. This was just a publicity stunt, nothing more

The Soto deal still has a lower “present day value” than the face value of the deal just like Ohtani’s. The $805M with the opt in bonus is worth somewhere around $650M present day. Still blows Ohtani’s out of the water but similar AAV.

The biggest difference between catchers of my day and catchers today is if they can hit, even a little, they get moved from catcher. See Donaldson and Brice Harper. Catching takes years off a career.

Is Atkins intentionally removing all fan favorites? Guess Vlad is next. Don't understand the FO's moves and sadly I dont think they do either. Guess until ticket sales drop Rogers has no desire to change the direction of this club and move on from this front office

This is what I expect going forward for the Jays. We will not get any significant FA except Bregman which will be a massive overpay. We will trade Orelvis/Barger/Horowitz/Manoah for middling platoon Bats for Loperfido/Varsho in the OF as well as RPs. Bo and Vlad are going to have carreer years going into FA, we will not sign either. Bregman will probably start off Hot, even contenders for the AL east leading up to the deadline. We'll empty the rest of the farm to go for it instead of trading Bo and Vlad. We'll likely miss out on a playoff spot by a game or two after collapsing down the stretch. Bo and Vlad walk in free agency, the 2026 team is lead by Varsho Loperfido and Wagner. We fire Shatkins and Schneider. Rebuild commences after another wasted year, and this regime is looked at with distain for wasting a half decade plus of Generational talents.

Don't forget the two second round compensatory draft picks from Bo and Vlad being wasted on guys the farm system can't develop. The Blue Jays might get a great position in the 2025 draft, and they'll waste that, too.

Atkins has destroyed this team. I’ve never wanted someone fired so much. If he had extended Vladdy and/or Bo, players might actually want to come here

Vladdy has been to the playoffs 3 times. He is 3/22. I blame him for no wins. Zero improvement in 3 trips. He's not a gamer. He only hits in meaningless situations. His best HRs are a spring HR in MTL and an All star game HR. I'm pretty sure he's the least clutch player in Toronto Sports history. I can't think of another I don't mean to sound antagonist, just realistic about what coming...which may be the end of the Vlad experience

I so can't wait to finally watch Shapiro n Atkins fired.....they've destroyed this team n have had enough of the smoke that's been blown.... time for a new direction n it's probably too late to get Vlad or Bo for that matter to stay n our bullpen is pathetic....unfortunately, I see rebuild but when upper management is ax'd.....that'll be awesome n get this team pointed in right direction

Atkins talking about being "nimble and agile" again. He's excited about opportunities, There will be internal improvements when they deploy their dumpster dive acquisitions. Man John Schneider is the next coming of Cito Gaston.

Atkins needs to be fired immediately. It’s not the Soto deal that bugs me, you knew another team would happily pay Romano and sure enough the Phillies paid more than he was eligible for in arbitration. Soto would not have fixed this team but they’ve also allowed holes just to get bigger. Honestly just rebuild the team they will not be competitive.

Jays have to many holes in their lineup to compete for years to come. Also those big name players are never coming to Toronto don't matter how much money u throw at them. Look what the dodgers did they went out and signed snell after what they already had. Soto with the Mets are going to make them stronger but the dodgers are going to take it all again. 2025 has already been decided. Lol takes the interest right out of the game.
