🚨 EMERGENCY PODCAST DROP, DEAN GONE, BOSTON BREAKDOWN 🚨Was the sacking justified and who next?

Who else thought they were getting a nice quiet close season. Being able to relax knowing we were in a slightly better place. This is Scunthorpe United, we don’t know what one is.
So the news came out that Jimmy Dean, Chris Plummer and Ant Coombe had departed the club. Some will be happy with this, others not so. We had to drop a an emergency pod. Three of the usual pod, plus special guest as Gareth was playing trains.

Fair discussions on this podcast . Jimmy has put his heart and soul into Scunthorpe United while trying to manage a team that was at one point on the brink of extinction. His passion has infected all of us. He’s galvanised the supporters and for that alone has been priceless. What a lovely human being . He may not of won promotion but he won the hearts of thousands of true football fans from our club and many other clubs . I hope Jimmy keeps learning his trade and improves to the point that he gets the success he truly deserves. Attracting 8000 fans in a none league division and 2nd in the table is not the worst position to have on your CV as you leave a club. Good luck and Thankyou Jimmy and team. Up the Iron.

The news about Jimmy and his team comes as a surprise to me. Although it is not entirely clear why or how he has gone, I'm speculating it may be financial. Finishing second in this league and not getting promotion doesn't sit well with me and losing to a team 13 points below them in a penalty shoot out is harsh. Second place would have got promotion in higher leagues. I understand why we have play offs, to keep interest alive and a money making thing, but Jimmy's job has fallen to this farce of a play off system and Tamworth's superiority. He also led from the front in difficult times. I wish him all the best for his future.

As a Leamington FC fan i will tell you York and Stockport came down and some thought they would go straight back. It took them both 3 seasons to rebuild to get back and York had to go to the play offs. It takes some winning the NLN and it takes time to adjust. In the end you will come back stronger as a club. We are in the play offs to come back against strong favourites Telford like you were last week. You as fans will have to be patient and stick by your club. We are surprised you sacked your manager but thats down to your club.

You're spot on; too many ex league clubs seem to think the Leamingtons, the Maidenheads the Solihulls etc etc should just roll over and die at the sound of their name. Then reality hits. The old closed shop days of re election to the FL denied a lot of excellent non league sides admission to the league. Now it has to be earned. True;Oldham, Scunthorpe ,York have the following and potential to get themselves back-as soon as they learn you have to earn it on the field rather than reading your long lost days of success to anyone who cares. "Big" is nothing. I always remind people of "Big" Burnley who-in 1987 just 27 years after they'd won the first division- not only had to beat Orient in their last Division Four match of the season to stay in the league, they had to pray Lincoln or Torquay lost/dropped points as well-it wasn't entirely in their own hands. Too many minnows not rolling over and dying for them perhaps-though glad to see they're back.

The bottle that Fitzsimons threw was the Boston's keeper's but when he made that first save. and then Fitz made the save. Its that hope that Fitz gives you just to watch the Boston keepers to make another save. It was wounding. We did have clear chances. When Whitehall squared it for an open net. There was a clear pen and the ref bottled it. That summed up our season with refs. I think even promotion was achieved, this parting of ways still happens. The wage bill is far to high. and we still have players on large wages under contract. We look forward. Another season in this league, we go again. UTI

Scunny were their own worst enemies on Saturday. They wouldn't have scored in 'open play' if they continued to play into Sunday morning. Same for Boston as well. Both clubs not good enough for the next step up in the pyramid. It's not going to be easy next season as the on field wage bill needs to be lowered and the squad may have to be run mean and lean. Anyway, have a great Summer and best wishes for next season.

I knew a decision was coming and hope Jimmy leaving isn't a huge mistake. We'll know in 12 months. Good luck to him. I think he'll go on to great things. Big task for whoever comes in, with the lower budget. Expecting to lose some good players. Hoping for a good season.

Financially and football wise Dean had to go, but morally he deserved to stay. Dont know what to think, I guess if his budget is cut by 1/3 or a half and he couldnt do it with the big squad and big wages then maybe he would only struggle more with a smaller budget. Plenty of good candidates out there, I think it will be Bishop personally and I think he would be a terrible choice #uti

Definitely glad he’s gone no plan B was way out of his depth just didn’t take to him at all should of been sacked straight after the Darlington game
