I love everything about this off grid life we've chosen, except how far we are from emergency services. This week was a rough one. Joe had to rush me to the ER in the middle of the night. This emergency totally highjacked what was supposed to be a "supply run" vlog. But such is life right? Thanks for joining us for another video. I love watching videos of Alaska, but I don't like watching videos when there is no conversation. I was rushed by ambulance to the hospital 6 days after having spinal fusion surgery with a UTI . I thought the pain was from the surgery, never had a UTI before. The ER was mobbed and I was in terrible pain. You are correct about the catheter instantly relieving the pain. I was admitted to the hospital on a IV of antibiotics because the poison was all through my bloodstream, meaning I came home from previous hospital with infection. I was 3 days in hospital. Antibiotics worked quickly and catheter was removed next day. You have my sympathy, it's a horrid situation to be in, especially around the holidays.Praying for you 🙏

I ended up in the hospital for a week over this same issue. I had a really rough go of it. I am so glad that you were able to have Joe get the catheter out for you and most most thankful as well that you were able to pee on your own 💕 Having Joe do that for you just shows the immense amount of love and trust you both have for each other. You are blessed. And Parker is an amazing compassionate young man. You both have done so well with him. Lucky you have a hubby who will do those things for you. I had a tumor removed and my surgeon was in my room and decided to take out my catheter. He called in a male nurse and showed him the “new” catheters. I wanted to punch him…lol. They have zero sense of modesty in the hospital. Mine never burned though and I felt absolutely nothing when it came out. Don’t let the trolls bother you Tina. They travel channels just to reek havoc and sit back and watch. Most are probably not your regular subscribers.

Tina, delete comments that are unkind. You have a family channel and negative comments are not welcome. Discard them, you are better than these negative, probable bots. I’m sorry you weren’t feeling great over the holidays. AZO (aka Pyridium) is a great over the counter product that will help with symptoms until antibiotics kick in. (It’s the little pill that turns your urine orange.) I’m an RN and my husband is a Pharmacist. He recommends keeping some on hand but use as the label suggests. It is such a great product that works in conjunction with fluids, Vitamin C and antibiotics. I’m glad you knew to deflate the bulb of the catheter prior to removal. Sometimes there is value in teaching you how to use your catheter to bladder train over a day or two prior to removal. It’s better than inserting and removing a catheter a couple of times. But, none the less, you are getting better daily. God bless you. P.S. we aren’t giving medical advice, just a couple of suggestions if you feel they apply to you.

Happy birthday Doc Joe! So proud of Parker for praying for and tending to his Momma. Sounds like a family first aid class would be beneficial. We love your channel. You mentioned a ‘lazy bladder’. Talk to your health care provider about physical therapy to help with that. It helped me, kinda weird, but it helped. Cranberries and blueberries both have an enzyme that helps prevent UTIs. My grandmother always said drink cranberry juice or apple cider vinegar helps with UTI. Hopefully that can be added to your remedy box. Best wishes and a speedy recovery. And Parkers indorsement of Alaska was so sweet.

Hi sweetie, I just want to give you a hug. I know how bad you are hurting. I am a retired nurse we often would not eat or drink for many hours and would end up with bladder infections. It is a nurse thing. There are lots of things that can cause bladder infections. Holding your urine too long is one of them. Getting dehydrated is another. Not flushing your urinary tract after intimate contact is another. In other words pee whether you have to or not after intimacy. Take cranberry tablets or juice everyday. Keeps the urine the proper PH to prevent infections. Another immediate PH changer is an aspirin however if you have a bad enough infection it can also cause bleeding. So be aware of that. There is a medication called Pyridium that makes your pee orange but it numbs the bladder wall and the urethra and helps with the pain. It is an OTC talk to a pharmacist and just have some on hand if this happens again for the pain. Do Kegal exercises makes your urethra stronger and should help your peeing issue. Kegal exercises feel like making yourself pee and then stopping the stream. It suppose to enhance intimacy too so there is that too. You need for living off grid to buy a good herbal medicine book. I recommend Nicole Appelaine book Lost Herbal Remedies. It is a must have for off grid living. We are retired now and have an off grid. But, even before that I was getting into Naturopathy. I know what plants stop bleeding, lower your blood pressure, fight infections. Up there I am sure you have Bearded Lichen. It is a moss lichen that looks like an old mans beard hanging from usually balsam trees that are dying. When made into a tea or a tincture and taken it is natures Doxycycline. You just need to treat it like an antibiotic and take it for seven days if you start it and if you take it in tincture form (you Tube Videos show you how to do it) you only take 1/2 teaspoon twice a day for seven days. This is a powerful natural antibiotic and if you take too much it can be hard on your liver. Best advice with any infection especially with urinary tract infections is to drink lots of water. It is part of how your body rids itself of the infection. Good Luck. Stay Off Grid but get some education on Naturopath you will be so greatful for that knowledge. Talk to the First Nations folks and ask them they know. Oh and if you ever have it again keep a hot water bottle on your peri area it is comforting and helps heal the inflammation.

I highly recommend you see a urologist for your peeing problem. I wonder if you have a constricted urethra or scar tissue built up (from the infection when you were young) which might exacerbate your voiding issue. I was diagnosed with bladder cancer at 42 (not saying you have it, but it's worth watching things), so you're not too young for such a possibility.

I just found your channel about a month ago & I love it. Some people get their thrill tearing others down. You addressed it perfect! I’m am one of those women who are prone to getting UTIs. There is an over the counter product called AZO that numbs you when you pee that is a tremendous help with the pain. It’s just a pill you take & it turns your pee bright orange. I’m a nurse ,at times I can’t go to the toilet ,I ended passing blood one day ,I know and feel the pain you are experiencing, what I have learned is drink more than 3-4 litres a day and won’t let my bladder store a lot of urine ,if you work with me you will see me running to the toilet every now & then ,, I also make sure that I eat fruits to prevent constipation.take care and don’t let rude peeps let you down ,, you’re amazing ❤

❤ Hell yeah 💯👍 straight on the head, spunky, I like that a lot. I sure do find your video content more adventurous and inspiring, for some people it could even be educational. On how life can be off grid with minimal supplies of town. Well sometimes you have to get to town, for a supply run, everyone does need some spare parts and hardware to fix things around the place, No one can't without, they all need spices coffee flour ammo etc. self-sufficiency and off grid living, doesn't mean that people have to live so remote, that everything has to be flown in twice a year? Right. You folks are blessed with what you have. Keep cherishing what you have and have achieved.

I'm glad you're on the mend! That bacteria put me in ICU on a ventilator and dialysis for 9 days. I was in septic shock and Afib when I was admitted to the hospital. I was actively dying and I thank God every single day for guiding the doctors to heal my body. That bacteria is nothing to play around with! I am 100% now, but it took close to a year to get there! I actually spent 2 weeks total in the hospital and had aspirated pneumonia and legionella pneumonia aka Legionairres disease on top of the UTI. All caused from a hot tub in a cabin in Gatlinburg that wasn't maintained properly! Worst vacation ever and we paid close to $4000 to rent that place! What really sucks is that I reported that the hot tub smelled weird and requested maintenance and they never came to even check it! Always be careful!

1st off Happy Birthday Joe! Cracked up when he said “like starting the generator” never really thought about it watching y’all but being so remote you definitely need a real medical/trauma kit including tourniquets etc. I’d also recommend checking out Jase medical and or Contingency medical, you can get subscription antibiotics with instructions in case of emergency. Also a couple good fire extinguishers, and even though I don’t wear them either maybe chain saw chaps for Joe? One little slip can be horrible! Anyhow glad all worked out well! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
