Emergency RV Repairs: What We Learned on the Road

Oh wow! Good to know we not alone with vehicle problems.. you guys handled it cool! We have a selfbuilt Campervan, A 2004 Peugeot Boxer.. 2,7 HDI. We got stuck 600 Km from home once in the middle of the South African jungle. lol! It happened when we hit a pot hole that killed the engine, and bent the front right steel rim.. as the air was gushing out I jumped out and hit the rim fairly straight with a hammer, which saved us changing the wheel, the engine was another thing, cranking it with no starts was really getting us down, even the Knock switch was ok.. and still no start up. eventually we got a road side assistant to get it going. we limped home.... and it died at home the next day after I filled the fuel tank with diesel at the station that sold cheap fuel. (hey we pensioners and every penny counts). After a lot of work with the Peugeot mechanic we knew, we found out the fuel was the problem....The cheap fuel was diesel with a cut of parrafin ... this caused the whole fuel system to be upset and fail. yeah we been there done that lol! just glad we / and you can carry on and smile at the things we can make stories about .. good work there well done! safe travels in future there guys.. regards from Jaunti Campervan South Africa! 🚐
