Union Minister Amit Shah announced on Friday that June 25 will be observed as ‘Samvidhan Hatya Diwas’ (Murder of Constitution) to commemorate the struggles caused by the imposition of the Emergency in 1975 on that day. Back then, Indira Gandhi-led Congress government had imposed 'Emergency', which lasted until March 21, 1977, under which the special provisions of the Constitution were used to suspend civil liberties, carry out mass arrests and curtail press freedom among other measures. I agree with Tushar....when congress is still reaping its legacy of Nehru, Indira and Rajeev and still asking for votes years later based on that, why should it wipe out and conveniently forget and ask people to forget the otherside of their legacy? In fact there is more. why should we forget Nehru's flawed policy on Kashmir. He took the Kashmir issue to the UN because of which it has become an international issue and we are till date losing innocent citizens and our brave soldiers. Why should we forget that Nehru gave away the UN Security Council seat to China that we have till date not able to get and the same China uses its veto power against India as far as the ussues of terrorism are concerned. There is a long list of blunders as part of Congress legacy. Why should we forget all of this?

Tushar says that a TV channel did a cover story on the issue in 1977 ??? Arre andhbhakt, the first private TV channel to start operation was Zee TV in 1992. Even DD started a national telecast in 1982, and before that, it had limited operations and mainly focused on Krishi Darshan!
