I loved this show when I was younger. I went on the website for the clinic featured on the show, Dr. Fitzgerald, the vet who usually treated the reptiles, is still there. My mom had a lot of respect for him, as she is very afraid of snakes!

i lived like 5 miles from this vet hospital.. they weren’t our usual vets but went more then once for after hours help… they were so good and still think about them now

I remember watching this as a really young kid, like 4 years old, I really enjoyed watching it, didn't give me nightmares or anything. Actually made me want to become a vet

My German shepherd dog died of bloat (GDV) last week. It's an incredibly deadly condition that deep-chested dogs are prone to. They'll go from exuberant and healthy to dead in an hour. God bless those that fight to save a dying dog (these graceful acts are one of humanities very few redeeming qualities).

@@casspower Thanks for the kind words. I now have a German Shepherd and a Great Pyrenees whose diets I watch like a hawk to keep such a thing from happening again.

I remember this one....:*( Used to watch this show ALL the time. I wanted to be a vet, too (til I realized I probably wouldn't do too hot in a medical field w/ my math skills.) DX But yeah...fantastic show in every way, and very inspiring. Miss the old Animal Planet logo as well!

hey guys, my fater appeared in an episode of this back in the late 90's i belive. 98? we had a ferret named subzero that got traped under a door while he was at work. and broke either its jaw or its ribs if i remember right. my father died a couple years after that show. i kinda wanna see it and hear him again. i can not find streaming episodes or where to buy the collections ect. can some one help? as far as ive gotten is i think* season 1 episode 14 , but i cant get a stream of it to see for sure. our ferret was treated at alameda east clinic by i belive dr fitzgerald. if any one computer savy enough to find a streaming link to it id be forever gratefull. ferret name sub zero ,fathers name dean hinton. thanks ahead of time if any one manages to muster up a stream. { i was just a kid, kinda wanna remember his expression and voice}

I have Akita their breed is knowing for this. Its very sad that vets now days are more about the money then helping animals. Friends of ours had to rush their Akita in middle of the night she came down with it. Vet told him it going cost 3,000 he told him were in hell I'm going to come up with that kind of my money in middle of night . They wouldn't even work on her until they get the money. So he had to rush home get his credit cards by the time he got back she died. I think vets are cruel .

+Laura Bonnell I don't think you understand the cost of doing the surgery and the pressure emergency vets are under on a nightly basis. If they helped every single animal that came in with owners who had no money they would go out of business and wouldn't be able to help any animals. Keeping a hospital open 24 hours a day is extremely expensive. The equipment, the staff, and the resources that go into helping just one patient is unreal. If you don't have money their hands are tied. Especially since they could lose their job taking on a patient whose owner can't pay. Perhaps a little research into what it takes to treat an animal in an emergency facility would give you a different perspective. Don't make ignorant comments about the people working hard to save an animal's life. I have literally seen emergency vets break down and CRY over somebody else's pet because they aren't allowed to help it because of money constraints. DO NOT tell me they don't care and are cruel.

Their are vets that will work with you, but yes, too little and far between.
