This is EXACTLY one of the reasons why we NEED a prequel miniseries about Robert's Rebellion and the events that proceeded that. Practically, a miniseries of Aerys II's whole reign. That will encapsulate events like the tourney at Harrenhal, the events at Duskendale, the fire of Summerhall, etc. It could start with the aftermath of War of the Ninepenny Kings, shortly before Aerys the 2nd will become king.

Here's my theory..... VARYS KNEW THE SECRET. The whole series we had wondered why Varys always answered the question "Who do you serve?" With " The realm , My Lord. Someone must." And in doing so he means bringing a Targaryen back to the Iron Throne. It goes deeper in books than I care to type lol. But I picked up on this in the first episode when Viserys told Rhaenyra the prophecy. It links up with the Pentos sceme and "Faegon" theories as well.

I don't think the white walkers were on the Mad King's mind, I actually think Bran may have done something to him "in passing" and not thinking about it at all. So the way Hodar was being worged through time directly, and kept repeating the same word, I think Bran could have gone "looking" back and either maybe Bran was looking for a way to save the city, or destroy it. The Others coming south, would only exponentially grow stronger with all those Kings Landing citizens and fire is the only way to destroy bodies so they can't be turned. Maybe Bran tries to retroactively blow the city up in the past, to make things easier in the future? OR rather more realistically, Worgs into the mad king to make him at least set up the wildfire across the city, and thats all, just so in the future it could be used by Danny and Jon. This way nothing in the past changes, but it can be "guided" So not that the Mad King was actually preparing for the Others with wildfire, but he was being guided too, and the effects of that seems to be speech issues. So even if the King was thinking about just killing everyone, and being reborn a dragon, it was all shadowed by Brans Will. "What did the Mad King say when you stabbed him in the back, I never asked...did he call you a traitor, did he beg for a reprieve?" "He'd been saying the same thing he'd been saying for hours...'burn them all'..."

Fascinating stuff - those White Walkers and what they might be up to during this series. So mysterious. Who are they? Whats their plan? How dangerous are they? How are they going to stop them? I love the passage in the books where Tormund tells John: "A man can fight the dead, but when their masters come, when the white mists rise up … how do you fights a mist crow? Shadows with teeth … air so cold it hurts to breath, like a knife inside your chest … you do not know, you cannot know … can your sword cut cold?" Imagine if the long night actually meant a literal night lol, and they just defeated them the same way you might kill a human, like a sneaky stab with a dagger, And then they did that movie trope thing where if you kill the main monster, all the little monsters die, and then they just left it like they never mattered and didn't go on to explain ANYTHING about them at all. It would be hard to give a shit about anything they were up to a few hundred years earlier knowing that was where they ended up.

I’m wondering if Aegon learned that the long night was brought on by the white walkers when he met with the king of the north. They came to an agreement that he would bend the knee to Aegon in exchange to be the warden of the north (Aegon’s eyes and ears). Then gifted the sword “ICE”. Explains why the starks words are winter is coming.

I thought The Starks words were prior to Aegon, and he bent the knee to Aegon after being told of the reason, and knowing about the prior long knight. No idea if white walkers were ever mentioned, in the books, they had mentioned Ice spiders and stuff, so it is different from the series, no night king or anything.

Rhaegar didn’t think the prophecy was about Jon snow- he thought his first son, Aegon, had a song already, the song of ice and fire. He thought he had to have a third child, and not Jon snow, but a second sister/wife for his Aegon just like the conqueror had.

Theory: Bran went back in time throughout the Targaryan reign and deliberately destabilazed the Targaryan dynasty through maddening them, or at least some of them. He did this because he knew that if he hadn't, the long night would've been less of a threat and the Targaryans would win pretty easily. But since he did this, he would have to be the one to orchestrate the defeat of the Others and later be seated on the throne. Why does he want to be on the iron throne? Because he is a puppet of the children of the forest and with him being on the throne it essentially means that the children of the forest are the rulers of Westeros again.

I actually think there’s another one, just like kings in Westeros get replaced after they die, so does the night king already having a heir. Craster had a lot of sons, we only saw a couple who were with the night king, but there are probably more of them. The baby that got turned into a white Walker might be fully grown by now…

I had this conversation with someone in another youtube comment. Essentially, we were thinking of a way for them to "spin" the story of the battle with John snow and the white walker. We concluded by saying "They should make it, that John and Danny only fought a faction of the white walker army." Like the king we saw could basically be like a general in the army, possessing the power to rise white walkers. Because to be honest, that army was a bit small to fight all of Westeros. Getting it to fit into everything could be tricky but we were just brainstorming.

Thank you for this timeline reminder. I had forgotten when the Children of the Forest had turned dude into the Night King. As far as passing on the prophecy, it would have been easy for them to lose track of the book Rhaenyra was reading. Even if it just got moved to the Citadel library for safe keeping. Then the prophecy would have been passed on orally. When doing that, it's easy for details to get lost or changed.

My theory: The White Walkers sensed the Targaryens could be dangerous enemies since they arrived at Westeros, so they used spells and curses to attack their minds. I imagine the White Walkers whisper in Targaryens ears from beyond the wall, driving some of them completely nuts. But they didn't see Arya coming!

Since HOD is not entirely tied to the book it would be awesome in my opinion if, after the end credits of season 1... the camera flies over from the red keep all the way to always winter goes into the castle and zooms in on the knight king sitting on his throne ..then it just cuts to black. Season two can introduce a likable character that eventually hears about the prophecy so he goes north on a dragon and a couple dozen men. He makes it all the way outside of the castle a battle ensues with his dragon he is able to kill thousands of walkers, and a few of his commanders. The whites were not prepared for an unexpected battle. But eventually all living die and the new character gets back on the dragon and tries to flee but the night king shoots him down with a Lance and only the dragon escapes. The character could be explained as a thief that with his group of men would steal from the rich and gave to the poor in essos. Melissandra and the high priestess saw goodness in him so they helped him gather valerian weapons and with magic helped him tame a dragon. This would explain how he wasn't targaryan but had a dragon and valeryan steel. He know of the prophecy through the red women and it wouldn't affect the timeline but would give a reason for why the nightking was inactive again, to replenish his generals and now he knows about valerian steel.

Hi, there! Found your channel by accident and enjoyed the video. I, too, have a theory but having trouble connecting the dots. Remember the letter Aegon the Conquerer recieved from Dorne after Rhaenys fell and presumably died? I think Dorne told him about the Whitewalkers and he immediately hopped on his dragon to Dragonstone to find proof, whether it was from the cave drawings Jon Snow showed Daenerys in season 7 or he consulted the black candle. Either way, that was enough for him to call off the war on Dorne. Now, my question would be how would Dorne have that infomation? Well, anyone who has lived on Westeros since the beginning would know but instead of it being a well-known fact, it became a fairy tale amongst Westerosi (thus no one believed in WW and manning the Wall became less important). I'm having a hard time connecting why Dorne, like Winterfell/the North would continue believing in WW enough to warn Aegon despite living so far away and why didn't Winterfell tell him this themselves? Secondly, I believe the Night King is always searching for his Queen and sacrifices of women or (male) children were enough to keep him and his army satisfied for a while. My theory is Rhaenys survived her fall and Dorne gave her to the Night King... or maybe she didn't survive her fall and they gave her to him anyway to revive her. Either way, "The Prince/ss that was Promised" was fulfilled and the WW did not return until another was needed. Enter Daenerys. Popular fan theory is that Drogon took her to the North where the story of the NK will be repeated once Jon Snow sees her again. Perhaps Westeros refusing crowning a Queen had less to do w/ sexism and more to do w/ safety? Now, my question w/ that would be why is the NK always looking for/replacing his Queen? so sad that the original actor that played the Night King didn't continue the roll. He looked so damn cool. The guy that replaced him looked like a muppet. They did not need a weapon expert to play the roll, he doesn't even fight. He just needed to throw a spear and raise his arms to turn corpses into zombies

I think Aegon’s prophecy will get lost during/after the dance. I don’t want to give away spoilers on how the Dance ends. After it’s lost Aegon V could discover it in text or translates it on the blade of catspaw dagger & this is what lead him to try & bring the dragons back at Summerhall. The prophecy gets lost again cos of the tragedy at Summerhall. Rhaegar continues to go back to SH in his grief & it’s there he discovers the prophecy. From then on Rhaegar makes his transformation into a warrior to prepare for the Long Night. Later he comes to believe his son is the Prince who was Promised.
