Esta pieza dura más de 15 minutos, pero siempre que la escucho me gustaría que durara al menos 30. Es grandiosa.

Yes brought me here and i honestly had put this in my memory banks long ago. This masterpiece took me back to the moments I first listened to Pictures at an Exhibition. I am still in awe of the staggering accomplishment this represented in progressive music. The bombast of "in the burning of our yearning". May be the best piece of music i have ever heard.

The Gnome, starting at 2:10, especially with Carl Palmer's drums, reminds me of the much later Rammstein. The Germans must have derived inspiration from this version. Emerson, Lake and Palmer were always innovators. I got turned onto EL&P's first album in 1971 at summer camp when I was 14. I thought I'd heard all of their recordings, but I'd missed this version.

Have you ever heard of Modest Mussorgsky? He composed the music in 1874. Pianist Keith Emerson brought it to the band literally note for note. Amazing adaptation as it's meant for an orchestra.
@D.A.Trevino4 жыл бұрын
@@davidbondzio9539 actually, it was composed for piano. The orchestra version was adapted by Maurice Ravel.
@davidbondzio95394 жыл бұрын
@@D.A.Trevino Thank you for that info, but now I'm confused. How does Mussorgsky fit into this then?
@Engineer_Who3 жыл бұрын
@@davidbondzio9539 Mussorgsky originally wrote the piece for piano. Ravel later adapted it for orchestra. ELP adapted both versions for keyboards, guitars, drums, and vocals.

It's 2019 almost 2020 I turned to MTV to hear what's going on. I can report it is a vacant waste land with Vegas style dancing and lounge act lyrics it is incredibly dismal. I came here to wash out my ears of the senseless slaughter of music that I witnessed this day.

Was this made on a 486 using a Roland MIDI device? It has a very 1990s PC sound to it.
@gradypatterson1948 Жыл бұрын
This album was released in 1971 - one year before Intel released the 8008 chip - their first microprocessor chip, which led to the first generation 80486 in 1989 18 years after ELP released "Pictures at an Exhibition". The first version of the MIDI standard was published in August 1983, with the first commercially-available devices being released late that year.
