I like this guy specifically because his Prime robot mode is so beefy. I always felt G1 Rodimus didn't have enough visual distinction from Hot Rod, and this guy solves that.

As a kids toy. I think it’s pretty cool and if I was 10 again. I’d be over the moon if I got this. I think people sometimes forget who exactly these toys are actually for and have way too high expectations. Great review Emgo and the ending was epic!

mrwickedweasel If it weren’t for Hot Rod’s legs being exposed while he’s Rodimus, I would love this guy. If they made something that covered them up and locked them in place, this would be an amazing figure. And for $50, we should expect some decent engineering that lets the figure hold a pose without the arms flailing around. I get it, they’re aimed for kids, and this is an amazing kids toy. But Hasbro also knows that collectors, and lots of them, buy these too. And they like it when they can be posed. I’m not saying make every figure masterpiece quality, but something like Titans return Sixshot shouldn’t be too hard to ask for.

A guy on EBay is selling clips that cover up the shoulder gaps and keep the Hot Rod legs in place for Rodimus Mode. Makes the figure so much better and turns it into a must have imo.

Id have to disagree with you on that, I think G1 Rodinmus looks better. Plus I think most of these big remakes are made for the nostalgia 35 year olds. With all the amazing remakes they have already made, this one falls flat. The average kid is going to get the $5 to $10 transformer at Walmart.

I think this is one of the most successful integrations of both Hot Rod and Rodimus into one figure in both vehicle and robot modes. Yeah it's partsforming but I'll take it over some of the other options where he looks the same in robot mode but you just extend his limbs a bit and swap out his face.

I know I'm late to comment on a video like this, but the two toned red on Rodimus is a result of Hasbro trying to make Hot Rod the bright red that his original 80s toy was and trying to make the trailer part of him like the Rodimus Prime figure in the 80s. The red on the original Hot Rod and the red on the original Rodimus Prime are two different reds, take a closer look of the two and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Personally, I like the evolution figures. It adds more playability for the children (duh, it’s a toy), and for me, it’s kind of satisfying to see how it all comes together. I have a feeling they’re going to release a Megatron for this line, and I’m curious to see how it would turn out. Gun to tank, maybe?

I have this figure. It's an ok Hotrod with a base mode, a really crappy Rodimus Prime, but an alright not-Lotus with a weirdo camper attached. The best part about this figure are the two pegs on top of the camper in vehicle mode making this an excellent display stand for Studio Series "86 Hotrod. *I bookmark this video because I can never remember the proper position of the bicep sections when storing the arms on the camper in vehicle mode.

Normally people complain that a transformer is over engineered. This one is quite under-engineered. They could very easily add some more hinges to fold away those arm panels, and make the proportions look better, and those backpacks could be engineered to fold away somehow. But apart from that, I like the concept of the transformation.

Hot Rod is ever so slightly off but still far better than the last couple Classics/Generations style Hotrods we've had. The vehicle modes look great. It's just Rodimus who seems a bit weird being so chunky but i can't say it bothers me. My only real issue is his shoulders in Rodimus mode are awkard for posing.

I kinda like it, I like the two tone red and bulk of him. The only thing I don't like is the lack of folding panels and the visible Hot Rod arms, apart from that, he looks as good as Optimus. I wonder if we will get more figures like this, maybe Megatron??

The different shades of red is to differentiate which part is suppose to come off so kids dont accidently pull down on a part that is not suppose to pop off.

I like this toy because you can have the original Hot Rod and then have him become Rodimus, also like the Optimus toy it doesn't just have the trailer just sitting around. Although I would have designed it so Rodimus' back could have had a pair of Cell's wings instead of the box, still would look weird though, but better than the box. If they could make an RID Scourge version like this than all four of my favourite trailer characters will be completed.

I must be the only person who likes Rodimus Prime. Then again, it was the first G1 Leader I had (Optimus was hard to find when I was first into Transformers as a 3-4 year old in 1986-1987). I want the Masterpiece Takara one, or Carry, but so much money. This one makes a nice Office Shelf Toy with my old G1 one. Right next to my Classics Hot Rod.
