I don’t know about y’all but I love the way the main rotor comes together in vehicle mode. I always appreciate the weapons being involved in the vehicle mode. I’d rather that over a gun on the roof of a car mode or something like that tbh.

Jokes aside, I legitimately think the hinges are just there so that the weapon can fit in the box (the weapon comes packed in a paper bag with the accessories taped to the side of the box, so the weapon cannot be wider than the side/depth of the box).

@@murilog.p.1383 Original 2007 Blackout Voyager-class figure had the ENTIRE helicopter rotor + tail assembly hanging from his back. It was just an enormous amount of kibble. Designers probably knew it looked trash, so the figure came with a large square peg that would detach the rotor assembly from his back, for him to hold it as his blade weapon, and it also had a plunger in the tail to make the rotor rotate. But the immense amount of kibble just makes the figure just ugly to look at. Not to mention his legs weren't accurate at all to the movie. And just for shits and giggles, Hasbro took the same bad design and used it for Grindor, Evac and Whirl

In the first 07 film, they had 60% of the combaticons. I like to imagine that was the original plan. They had a tank, a helicopter, a military truck, the cop car could have been a jeep, all they needed was a space shuttle.

MPM-5 Barricade is a close second for me, with my only real complaint with that figure being the same complaint I've had with pretty much every Barricade figure that uses the 2007 movie design, that being his weapon. Seriously Hasbro, how hard is it to stick a bendy wire on MPM Barricade's weapon so he can have his flail back?

@@thehighwayman3122 Barricade is tied with Starscream for second place for me. All three are excellent figures. I think Blackout has the best engineering, to achieve both modes looking spot on; Starscream’s F-22 objectively looks inaccurate underneath (though I personally don’t mind)

Oh boy, it's Masterpiece Blackout! OH... MY... G O D, he's better than I expected from the promo shots! And holy guacamole, the underside of his MH-53 Pave Low mode is one of the cleanest kibble management I've ever seen in an alternate mode. Overall, definitely a lovely figure IMO

I think the two folding blades are to make packing the accessory into the box easier. Mine came wrapped up in a paper packet with the blades folded in a way to make it fit into the box easier.

Incredible sculpt and scale for this guy. My main gripe is the paint scheme. I prefer darker, more gunmetal coloring for better film accuracy. This bright color on their Studio Series and MPM I'm not fond of. KO's will likely give that alternate paint job I'm looking for. Apart from that, excellent piece!

I got super lucky with this figure. Grew up with bay film transformers and fell in love with blackout from that first transformation in 07. Couldn’t get this figure when I was much younger and still couldn’t afford it when they released it like this lol. Needless to say I got lucky and it went on insane clearance at my target. Scored it for $45!! Inner child healed:)

my guess for the moving rotor blades in the hand-held weapon is to save space in the molding process. That way you could optimize space in the molding with putting the 4 blades all near together, rather than doing a single big, circular piece.

The buzzsaw blades being made partially and not completely out of the main rotor blades is a nice lil compromise for the movie model just scaling down the rotors

The reason that the rotor weapon has two joints only is for packaging purposes. In the instructions, it actually explains to attach the blades onto the weapon. So it looks like they had originally planned to package them apart, but didn’t

I know the engineering is probably impossible,but I always wanted a Blackout figure that A. Incorporates Scorponok into the Helicopter mode like Primus and Michael Bay's design team intended, and B. Launches Scorponok out of Blackout's backout (see what I did there) like in the movie. Regardless this is an excellent figure and Emgo is the host with the most as always.

This isn’t actually Blackout - this figure is Grindor from ROTF. They have the same robot mode but different vehicle modes. This vehicle is a Sikorsky ch 53e Super Stallion, which was Grindor’s alt mode! Small detail which is a funny misconception actually but awesome video anyways👍🔥

I'm just curious, at this scale, what is there to distinguish between an MH-53 and CH-53e on this particular toy? I'm not an expert, but comparing the two this appears to be a Pave Low to me. A CH-53e has that skewed tail rotor, and the MH-53 has it on the vertical fin like this does. Otherwise they appear identical, although it would appear that CH-53e would be a bit larger (11 feet longer and a couple feet difference from rotor to wheel high?)

Blackout has had a fiddly transformation in every iteration 🤣 I really thought my weijiang blackout was going to be my definitive blackout but he might get relegated to being grindor now, that blade integration is genius, and I like the machine guns. That scorponok is definitely an upscaled diecast version of the studio series one which really says a lot about how good the studio series is

none of my plastic on my hide shadow has discolored at all. He's kept in a detolf in my man cave which is in my basement. There's no windows so there's no sunlight. I wonder why so many peoples discolor like that?
