Fun fact: originally Devastator was much bigger but he was so big that he crashed the computers when they were modelling him and if I remember correctly they lost data on other things too because of it

DNA is amazing at matching colors that red literally looks like it was on the original figures. Awesome only kit I got from them is for the bay movie masterpiece iron hide had to get it for his shoulders and extra guns.

The overhaul balls playing important role for Devastator in revenge of the fallen. Obviously the part where he's scaling the side of a pyramid using this grappling hooks, the overhaul balls are a counterweight so that his big self doesn't fall over

I kinda like that now people are trying to make movie accurate Devastators and Constructicons. It would probably be easier if we actually knew all the robot modes of the individual characters rather than having to rely on concept art and conformation from the toys. It probably doesn't help that we actually see more constructicons at the site where Devastator is formed, Payload and Scrapmetal, than what SS Devastator gave us. We don't even know where those two even go (Transtheories did do a video on it).

Gotta say, apart from the enemy scrotum the extra headpiece might be the best part of the figure. A shame that the devastador built as intended was essentially given no up and down movement of the neck and is forced on a bipedal stance unless you do some jangling to make a neck hinge.

It seems like Overload, as he is the body component of where the overhaul balls are hanging. I believe he could also use them as a weapon in robot mode and have them in a storage compartment in vehicle mode.

I have to give it to Emgo, personally I hated this figure since ROTF. I did buy the green Walmart recolor on clearance over a decade ago in hopes to customize it. Watching the videos has got me starting to pick them up piecemeal to customize each piece. It hurts tacking on even more money for Upgrade kits bu Hasbro has really passed the buck on finish work to the third party market. That being said, I stay away until I get the greenlight from Emgo.
