this is the official v2 of ultimate heist! a lot of you guys on youtube might be hearing this song for the first time, since v1 was only on soundcloud, but i made a WHOLE ANIMATED MOCKUP for this thing, so i figured i may as well turn it into a visualizer! i hope yall enjoy :D i put a lot into this song
for those who aren't familiar with dirk, they're my chapter 3 superboss that i originally made YEARS ago! they're kind of a distorted mirror version of Kris. due to the influence of a mysterious benefactor, they believe that Kris being one of the heroes of the prophecy was a mistake, and that they deserve that spot instead, having suffered more than Kris has. they eventually lure the heroes onto a train, where they kidnap Kris, tying them to the front and forcing Susie and Ralsei to fight them on their own. their fight uses the purple soul!
the original DELTARUNE logo, the battle interface, and susie and ralsei's sprites were made by Toby Fox and the DELTARUNE team

Like I said in premiere chat, I'm so glad I was able to catch this live! The reincorporation of the second half of Dirk's motif was a pleasant surprise to hear (and I'm honored to have inspired ya,) and this is also just a rly good update on the whole. Love the extra -- for lack of a better word -- Muffet-isms in here! Also YOOOOOO THE VISUALIZER WAS SO DAMN GOOD, YA KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK AND THEN SOME!!! :D

Fight ideas: Additional soul mechanic: by holding Z, you can phase through purple colored projectiles. You can do this only for a brief moment, with the ‘phase’ having a charge that you need to conserve. While this charge regenerates on its own, if it completely runs out, it’ll take a lot longer to recharge. Susie has a skill that allows you to recharge faster for the next 3 turns, while Ralsei makes it so that you have more charge in total. Attacks: • Little knife shaped bats replace the Spiders muffet had. •The boomerang croissants are replaced with a pie slice, and a train wheel/gear replaces the bouncy donuts. •one attack pattern has knives that instead come from above or below and skewer the borders, forcing you to move around them. •a new projectile will involve a long train running through one of the lines, with it coming after a ! Box flashes on the line its about to run over and a train whistle. Later attacks will have all the lines get run over at once, but one of the ! will be purple, which will be the only purple train you can avoid by phasing through it. • one attack will have a purple train run through the middle line, forcing you to phase though it in order to dodge incoming knives on the top and bottom lines. However some of these knives will be purple fakes that you can wait to phase through to quickly recover a bit of charge instead. • smoke will cover the screen that obscures projectiles and prevents you from seeing their colors, forcing you to remember which ones are safe to phase through •A ‘fake’ soul that is Dirk’s will enter the field, and will charge extremely fast at you if you are on the same line as it, but the charge is able to be phased through. The attack only ends if you can make it charge into a moving cage. At first, it’s easy to tell apart since it’s magenta and will always try to stay opposite to the cage, but alternative versions later on will also obscure the box with smoke and have the fake soul be able to move in any direction and a later version even having multiple souls you need to dodge, forcing you to keep track of which soul is yours. Final Freakout: The giant Pie Moon in the background falls from the sky and starts rolling and bouncing after you, forcing you to quickly move across vertical facing lines, kinda like Muffet’s pet attack. Projectiles both white and purple will fly everywhere, lines will every so often get run over by trains, with only some of them being purple, and Dirk will even appear near your soul close to the end of the attack to fly at you with their knife. The attack end with you getting to the literal end of the lines, with Dirk plunging from above & the pie moon nearly squishing you before the attack ends.

While the idea of a Susie and Ralsei 2v1 against them is cool, I think it could also be interesting to add in the dark world version of Undyne who takes up a more western "sheriff" theme in Kris' place

how'd you do the smoke effect like that for the animated mockup? i would assume all the sprites were done in aseprite, but did you load these into a game engine to code in a smoke effect for the train? cause if so that's actually cool as hell
